2. exactly. can't STAND that, and he doesn't seem to be getting any better
at off the cuff speaking than he was a year ago.

that said, it's going to be hold the nose and vote for whomever gets stuffed down my throat, once again.

as always.

4. I think there's that aspect because he's trying to reduce what he
can say and what he knows into a little speck of time. The format is restrictive.

Akin to asking Lang Lang to perform the Grieg A-Minor concerto on a toy piano.

After years of Toastmasters, I subconsciously count all ums, ers, and uhs... he normally scores quite well.

10. He is not making a speech here, but speaking spontaneously.

Unfortunately, some people who impress us so much are only repeating well rehearsed answers. Obama is improvising, which is great because he really answers to the question, but it also gives us some uh.

I definitively prefer the uh and an honest answer to a question than a canned answer.

19. That's not a good sign. Obama is just another guy "pretending" to be a good leader then.
If you can't hold your own in a debate, you are out of your league.

30. that's not a resounding endorsement.
I know someone else who (used to be) pretty good at "reading the scripts" but couldn't off the cuff worth a damn. (Now, of course, he can't even READ the damn things right.)

Speaking eloquently off-the-cuff I think is a must. He needs a new coach.

even so he's easier to listen to than Hillary, whose voice, unfortunately, is harsh.

24. That's what experience does for you folks! I know many on Du have said
Jack Kennedy didn't have any more experience than Obama does, but it's not true. Politicalexperience...maybe, but LOTS of speeches in front of A LOTof people gives a good person the ability to relax, and speak from their mind. For the relative newbies, they're still worrying about how do I sound, OH GOD what's the best way to answer that one, and all the other stuff that just happens to inesperienced speakers.

This is no slam to Obama. It's simply something that has to evolve with exposure and experience.

There will be many more debates, and I'm sure Obama will learn from this one as will all the rest.
