Look, I know it's close, It was a real squeaker and all precincts are not yet in, so you don't have to concede at this point.
But here's the kicker, Dan. This was a primary. The difference is currently about 7000 votes out of about 900,000. That's more than half a percent. Half a percent is generally the break line for recounts. Most of the rest of the precincts are from areas that were going pretty well for Pat Quinn.
If those remaining precincts come in and you don't pull within a half percent, CONCEDE. I know it'll be tough. I know you poured your heart and soul into this race and it cannot be easy giving up with so few votes between you and Pat Quinn.
But this is a primary, and the GOP race is shaping up to be such a squeaker that they'll be fighting it out in the courts because it's probably going to be a razor thin margin less than one tenth of one percent. It's even possible the margin could be less than 100 votes and ends up in a three way court battle!
So Dan, when all the votes are in if you don't pull into that half percent margin, for the good of the party and more importantly for the good of a Great state of Illinois, concede and back Pat Quinn. Let the Republicans squabble amongst themselves for the next three or four months and give Pat the room to retain the governor's mansion.
