29. If I thought she'd read history I'd think she was worried about collaborator trials.
But with her it's probably free-floating paranoia.

Let's be serious: the GOP has know from day 1 that what they were signing on to was fucking illegal as shit, but there was far too much $$$ at stake for their crony buddies and themselves to say no. Now they're doing everything in their power to cover their ass.

Edited on Wed Feb-03-10 09:17 AM by cbdo2007
That's how I read that. They don't like trials when they've broken the law. As long as they aren't convicted of anything they didn't do anything wrong in their minds.

38. What was the Bush administration so afraid of?
The question has been asked, what were these people so afraid of.

Well if you have not figured it out by now here it is, here is exactly what these people are afraid of.

If Khalid Sheik Mohamed is tried in a US civilian court he gets the right to speak out in court and bring evidence into trial. And also he gets the right to cross examine his accusers in open court.

And what explosive evidence will KSM present in court.

THE FACT THAT HE WAS AT THE JANUARY 5-8, 2000 KUALA LUMPUR AL QAEDA PLANNING MEETING, PLANNING BOTH THE ATTACK ON THE USS COLE AND THE WORLD TRADE CENTER TOWERS.

The CIA even had photos taken by the Malaysian intelligence of everyone at that meeting including KSM, and even knew the FBI had a $2,000,000 reward on his head and still let him walk away to carry out both the attack on the USS Cole and the attacks on 9/11.

According to the 9/11 Commission report, the CIA was told on June 12, 2001, that Khalid Sheik Mohamed was organizing a huge attack the CIA had already had been warned about. They were told according to the 9/11 Commission report that KSM was sending many terrorists into the US in the summer of 2001 to link up with other al Qaeda terrorists who were already in the US in order to carry out this attack.

The Philippine intelligence had already told the CIA back in 1995 that one phase of the Bojinka plot, planning by KSM and his nephew, Ramzi Yousef was to hijack many US airliners and crash them into the WTC Towers, the Pentagon and the Capital building and other land mark buildings.

So the CIA knew that KSM had been at the Kuala Lumpur meeting planning the Cole bombing, and even knew he was overseeing the huge attack in the summer of 2001 that would involve hijacked aircraft that would target the WTC Towers, the Pentagon and the Capitol building.

All of this will come out at the trial of KSM.

So is this why the Bush administration waited 8 years and then still did nothing and then wanted to try KSM in a military commission so his testimony could be kept secret?
