TENET: "I Was A Talking Point-Tell The American People What Really Happened"
Tenet: ‘I was a talking point.’ “CIA Director George Tenet says the way the Bush administration has used his now famous ’slam dunk’ comment — which he admits saying in reference to making the public case for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq — is both disingenuous and dishonorable. It also ruined his reputation and his career, he tells 60 Minutes.”

“And the hardest part of all this has been just listening to this for almost three years, listening to the vice president go on ‘Meet the Press’ on the fifth year (anniversary) of 9/11 and say, ‘Well, George Tenet said slam dunk’ as if he needed me to say ’slam dunk’ to go to war with Iraq,” he tells Pelley. “And you listen to that and they never let it go. I mean, I became campaign talk. I was a talking point. ‘Look at the idiot (who) told us and we decided to go to war.’ Well, let’s not be so disingenuous … Let’s everybody just get up and tell the truth. Tell the American people what really happened.”

4. It was Bush who hung the medal around Tenet's neck, so if the president
now spins negative on this book release, it actually weakens him further.

And he's already hovering around 28% approval, according to the recent Harris poll.

Whether Tenet allowed himself to be used is less the point than whether the White House has the spin-gumption to out-maneuver him now.

I think the smart money's on Tenet.

6. Why'd you accept the Medal of Freedom then, George?
Give it back.

7. So, why did George Tenet say nothing? Why did he not challenge
...the administration on this? He had his day before the 9/11 commission and remained mute on this very issue. He could have cleared everything up, but he choose to pander to Bush and Cheney. Why?

8. Let me make sure I understand this . . .
For three years, Tenet has been a "talking point," that is, a hook used by the Bush administration to buffalo the media into repeating its spin. I'll leave aside the facts that it took Tenet three years and the imminent publication of his book to come forward with this, salient as those facts I believe are.

No, what really boggles my mind is that Tenet expects the same media that has been actively aiding the Bush administration in selling this illegal war to suddenly abandon one of its favoritest talking points on his say-so. Doesn't he realize how invested the media are in this war, and what kind of credibility they've piled up on the altar of Chimpy's illegal war? And now Tenet wants them to torch it all, three years down the line.

Good luck with that, Mr. Tenet. If I had any lingering doubts about just how big a boob you are, they've been put down like Barbaro.

9. So Tenet's truth had to wait for a book deal?
Noun tenet - a religious doctrine that is proclaimed as true without
proof (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/tenet)

Proclaiming truth without proof - go figure. :eyes:

So didn't one of the intelligence guys who testified before Congress say that Tenet sat behind Colin Powell at the UN "...like a potted plant"? Another great analogy. :nopity:

10. Does he really believe that owning up to the 'truth' now
...four years too fucking late. When he could have stepped forward and very possibly averted this whole catastrophe, but did and said nothing. When he accepted a bright shiny object, the highest honor in the land, for his complicity and silence. That what?.....we're all going to say 'aw, poor George, he was just a pawn - they used him as a 'talking point' - poor baby'?

If the piece of shit had spoken up at the time, when he saw the writing on the wall, he'd be a hero. As it is George Tenet, you are a spineless TRAITOR!
