Mitt Romney: Catching Bin Laden not worth the money it would cost.
Edited on Thu Apr-26-07 04:54 PM by trumad
Said the country would be safer by only "a small percentage" and would see "a very insignificant increase in safety" if al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden was caught because another terrorist would rise to power. "It's not worth moving heaven and earth spending billions of dollars just trying to catch one person," Romney said. Instead, he said he supports a broader strategy to defeat the Islamic jihad movement.

_Said "the jury's still out" on whether Iraqis, with U.S. help, will successfully rebuild their nation, and establish the rule of law and a permanent government. He ridiculed Democratic efforts to set a public date for withdrawal. "There's certainly nothing wrong with having milestones that we hope to achieve and having the military evaluating whether we're making progress or not, but to set a public deadline for departure makes no military sense at all."

Funny---Mitt has no problem spending billions removing one guy from a sovereign country who had nothing to do with 9/11---but he has a problem with spending far less to get the guy who masterminded the whole thing. Fucking idiot!

2. Most people realize it on some level, even if they
won't admit it to themselves. 9/11 was a planned catalyst to take us to war. Chimpy admitted years ago after getting his war -- he barely thinks about Bin Laden.

3. This proves he's a continuation of the Bushists.
He has already drank the wild cherry Kool-aid. A position like this is not only abominable in and of itself, but clearly a very good indication that the Old Guard in the GOP considers going after bin Laden to be off-limits for highly suspicious reasons.

4. If 9/11 had happened on a Democratic President's watch....
There would be a daily count of the "Number of Days Bin Laden is Still Loose" on each and every major network (Just like they counted the number of days the hostages were held in Iran).

The fact that Bush & Co. gets away with *not* capturing Bin Laden is an indictment on the "Mainstream media" itself and all those seek to mininmize the importance of killing/capturing the dude supposedly responsible for the attacks on this country.

5. some of those Billions go to one of his NEW Campaign Advisors
Coffer Black, of: Blackwater USA. Can you see a connection to continuing the "War on Terra" for fucking ever for these assholes?

An executive with North Carolina-based private security contractor Blackwater USA has joined Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney as a senior adviser, the campaign said Thursday.

Cofer Black, who was the director of the CIA Counterterrorism Center during the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, has been vice chairman for two years at the firm, which specializes in security and military services. Black also helped shape President Bush's counterterrorism policy after the attacks.

"He has a long and impressive career dedicated to making America safer and more secure in the world," Romney said in a written statement. "Our country faces a new generation of challenges and Black's experience at the forefront of our nation's counterterrorism efforts will be a tremendous asset."

Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, hired Black as a senior adviser for counterterrorism and national security issues.

Black helped develop Blackwater USA into a powerful security firm that has received hundreds of millions of dollars worth of government contracts for services in Iraq. At its rural 7,000-acre headquarters in Moyock, Blackwater trains active-duty military and civilian personnel to support U.S. government operations at home and abroad.
