And the post comes up - and it has a flaming notebook icon.

What does that mean???

2. I believe it means it's a hot topic, if you are referring to a thread you started.

4. If you are talking about the icon on the left of a DU post

on a particular forum, it is usually an indication that you got a huge response and it is on "fire" - the burning notebook. Sometimes it just means a couple of idiots are fighting under your post. Either way a lot of people are reading it.
