What's a "Scott Brown" Republican? ~ Best Ignore it, don't feed the animal
Edited on Sun Jan-31-10 02:59 PM by shintao
A new catch word is out there seeking attention from the right. With careful consideration the best way to handle "I'm a Scott Brown Republican," is to ignore it, and don't feed the animal. You would only be fueling a republican catch phrase to popularize Brown, so he would be their next torch bearer for the Presidency. So PLEASE, Bloggers & Political site owners, ignore the catch phrase or laugh it off as a bad joke.

Here is ABC news fueling the catch phrase.

The newly elected Massachusetts senator made it clear he's not your typical Republican referring to himself as a "Scott Brown Republican" and said he's fiscally conservative but more moderate on social issues, especially his stance on abortion.

So what does the term "Scott Brown Republican" mean?

That means I'm going to go down there and be accountable, accessible, open and honest, and I'm going to bring good government and fairness back to the equation," Brown told Walters.

Brown is already being touted as a future leader in the Republican Party having accomplished what seemed almost impossible, taking away the seat from Democrats that the late liberal lion from Massachusetts Ted Kennedy held for 46 years.

5. I heard a Republican say his election was a clear message
that Americans are against HCR. So, I'd ask him if his election is a clear message that Americans support Roe vs Wade too?

My questions never seemed to be asked.

10. Reminds me of the Charles Durning song from the 80's musical
Best Little Whorehouse in Texas:

THE SIDESTEP
From : "The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas"
(Carol Hall)
Charles Durning

Fellow Texans, I am proudly standing here to humbly see.
I assure you, and I mean it- Now, who says I don't speak out as plain as day?
And, fellow Texans, I'm for progress and the flag- long may it fly.
I'm a poor boy, come to greatness. So, it follows that I cannot tell a lie.

Ooh I love to dance a little sidestep, now they see me now they don't-
I've come and gone and, ooh I love to sweep around the wide step,
cut a little swathe and lead the people on.

Now my good friends, it behooves me to be solemn and declare,
I'm for goodness and for profit and for living clean and saying daily prayer.
And now, my good friends, you can sleep nights, I'll continue to stand tall.
You can trust me, for I promise, I shall keep a watchful eye upon ya'll...

Ooh I love to dance a little sidestep, now they see me now they don't-
I've come and gone and, ooh I love to sweep around the wide step,
cut a little swathe and lead the people on.

'Brown is already being touted as a future leader in the Republican Party having accomplished what seemed almost impossible, taking away the seat from Democrats that the late liberal lion from Massachusetts Ted Kennedy held for 46 years.'

Holding a seat once held by a party leader of the other party does not automatically make you a top leader yourself. If it did perhaps you would now have President Barbara Boxer (actually not too bad an idea). I actually went to the trouble of looking up who now holds Nixon's old senate seat, and yes, it's her! Or President Jerry Brown - he replaced Reagan as governor of California. And we would have Prime Minister Rudi Vis. No, I hadn't heard of him either till my Wikipedia check just now! - but he is the Labour MP for Finchley and Golders Green, the nearest thing after some boundary changes to the seat that was long held by Maggie Thatcher!

But of course it's only Republicans who win long-held Democratic seats, never the other way round. That's why Republicans now hold such a massive majority in Congress. :sarcasm:

12. Mitt Romney version 2.0?
How far will Brown twist and turn himself to please both the voters of Mass (not an ultra conservative bunch) and the GOP leadership? Time will tell. Boring to me as I have seen tons of Repubs come and go in New England and they are all the same: unacceptable to the head of the GOP for any higher office but Senator or Rep.

13. It means he'll preach moderation and centrism to the people of his state,
then vote farther right than Jim DeMint.

Scott Brown is a snake in the goddamn grass and I don't trust him. I will NEVER trust him.
