Quote of the Day

"You go through the gate. If the gate's closed, you go over the fence. If the fence is too high, we'll pole vault in. If that doesn't work, we'll parachute in. But we're going to get health care reform passed for the American people."

-- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, quoted by the Plum Line.

3. No, people like me
who have pre-existing conditions and losing COBRA coverage depend on it.

You tell me how you can totally revamp the system overnight to provide people with care right now when they need it?

It's not like you can just wave a magic wand and have a new system in place overnight. We have to work within the system we have to provide people with options right now. Or, should the estimated 45,000 people who are dying annually simply collateral damage.

I'm all for single payer, but it's not going to happen overnight.

Ok I will. There is no need to totally revamp the system. Medicare already exists, a buy in for all can be included as a budget reconciliation. Don't need 60 votes, it can be deficit neutral with slightly higher premiums for higher income families offsetting subsidies for poor families, the freeps and baggers can keep their crappy for profit insurance, and we pre-existing folks get covered.

I have been on about this for months and cannot find a single reason that this should not be done. And you can bet that all those "get the government out of my life" freepers will be getting in line for Medicare once they see how bad they are getting ripped off by their "friendly insurance company".

It's a simple easy solution and a great first step towards universal single payer, now maybe you can explain to me why it's not happening.

20. And we're just going to wave a magic wand
to immediately put into place all of the infrastructure to handle such a huge Medicare expansion. New office space, personnel, computers, systems, appeals processes, processing claims, fraud investigators, etc. How long do you think that will take to roll out?

reforms into place. And it could be done in much less time, or haven't you been watching Haiti? It's pretty easy to get a massive amount of things done in a short amount of time if people put their minds to it, or there is a desperate need... I'm sorry if I gave you a reasonable answer and the best you could do was whine about magic wands. Next you'll be telling me about my pony. Seems like you are the one looking for a magic wand solution not me.

Tell me what is your brilliant solution to HCR?
