Wasn't he the new Governor of Virginia? I can't find anything regarding reaction to his speech and I was simply interested in seeing if he had a Jindal moment......

1. Didn't watch it, but yes, that's the new VA gov.
I think I saw a transcript posted here a little bit ago (but it may have been a spoof).

3. I was bothered by the "audience"
This wasn't his State of the Union address - it was the Republican response. I have never seen a response have an audience before.

4. Staged Bullshit
It was Bob McDonnell...the new wingnut guv of Virginia. He brought his own studio audience along...including a couple minorities placed in camera range for effect. It was boiler plate talking points we've heard over and over...and why many ignored what he had to say.

It was telling that they put out this "new face"...one without a record and unknown rather than a Palin (hahahaha) or Gingrich or Boner...people who are already discredited and have high negatives among the American people.

12. In It's Perverted Way It's Amusing...
They make a great drinking game...you're sure to get schnockered in a hurry if you bet on "tax cuts", "god bless America", "less government" and "sanctity of life" (which only applies to the "unborn"...once you're a real human, you're on your own). The applause lines were so staged I kept looking around for the applause sign. The good thing is we're not hearing about the new GOOP rising star McDonnell this morning...his 15 minutes came and went.

:hi:

6. I watched for a few seconds
and then switched channels.

It was so predictable.

8. Saw a few seconds of it, realized what it was, changed the channel,
just as I had been doing throughout the Bush years.

I have no interest in anything they say, won't waste my time with their nonsense.

9. From what I saw
I didn't think it was very good. Odd setting, portraying it as his own State of the Union instead of a response. He's the governor of one state of 50. A freshman governor with very little influence, imo. But when you're desperate, you're desperate.

10. as ko said (right after i said the same to my so), these 'responses'
aren't. they are miniature sotus by the opposition party and do not respond to what was said by the prez. i thought the guvner was a bit milktoast. no pizazz whatsoever, imho.

strategic placement of the african-american and asian-american behind him . . . enough to cause notice, anyway. wonder why he needed a crowd around him? ko said he doubted anyone (not a virginian) knew the guvner OR those arranged around him.

11. Wait, he staged minorities around him for effect? Does he think ONE African-American or Asian
(other than those apparently paid shills around him) actually watched his speech?

Republican, doing what's necessary to piss of the MAJORITY (non-whites) in this Country.

13. I watched long enough to hear that
his sons were there and wanted to be out in less than 10 minutes for some ball game. He invoked Jefferson several times in the brief time I watched.

15. My nephews are a mixed bag of politics
Some democrat, some republican and independent. Well I had to laugh and I mean ....three of them said the same thing. They started to listen to McDonnell and had to switch channels. They were TURNED OFF on this guy. Then all posted on facebook that he was a train wreck. So that tells you what the response was. If even a real hard a** republican couldn't stand to watch.

I was very surprised that they didn't have Scott Brown's pin ups plastered all over the wall. I hope Virginia starts to yell and yell and yell. This guy is a joke. But the problem is,, the democrats in some cases put up the worst candidates. When Howard Dean was in charge the candidate was 100% better. Rahm is another joke and the sooner he gets out of the way the faster this country will respond. I think Obama had better learn that loyalty to an individual is OK, but the country comes first.

17. His attempt at rebuttal was hilarious, considering Obama
had already said he was going to look at ALL energy options, including the Republicans' beloved nuclear energy.

18. I was going to listen to what he had to say but when he walked in
acting like the President of the United States, stopped to talk and shake hands, I got tired of waiting and went to the kitchen for a snack. He has been in office a week or so and they chose him, what is up with that? Most people never even heard of him. What was his name again.

I also found all that standing and clapping annoying. I wonder how many calories were burned, it was almost aerobics exercise.

20. sorry, I can't help.
I couldn't stand even the thought of being left with the taste of spin, lies, blame, disinformation, irresponsibility and basic fucking CONservatism after a fantastic speech. I left the room.
