I would think that buying up a passel of judges may be more lucrative than buying politicians. Although no doubt a good strategy would be to buy a good load of each.
I am not sure but aren't most state judges chosen by election? And where they are not, politicians appoint them.
If I was a big business, I would think about many small investments across the country could vastly help when I get hauled into court for ignoring some silly law or other.

1. Appointed judges are owned more thoroughly than elected judges.

Look only at the federal judiciary, where the GOP has packed them with ideologues for three decades. Good luck finding a GOP federal judge who isn't a rightwing nutjob hack, and that includes Roberts and Scalito.

Judges have always been for sale. Many of them come from large law firms, and are groomed to take the bench, where they can help their former employer win big cases and all manner of motions.
