The "Dean of the Washington Press Corp" has spoken -- Let's Yawn
So, here it is folks, the "Dean of the Washington Press Corp" has finally spoken...all you Senate Democrats should immediately fire your Majority Leader and commence circular firing squad and turn yourselves into good little Joe Lieberman Democrats because that's what the people want, at least according to the Deam.

WoW --this is stunning in its idiocy. I guess this is what happens when the Dean of the Washington Press Corp realizes that he has lost his audience. He gets a little testy.

For years Washington Democrats cowered everytime the Beltway journos pontificated at length over the country going to hell if the Democrats did X.

Guess what?

The country did go to hell precisely because the Democrats didnt do X.

The D.C. Democrats didnt challenge the Florida election results.

The D.C. Democrats didnt challenge The Patriot Act.

The D.C. Democrats

The D.C. Democrats didnt fight against invading Iraq

The D.C. Democrats didn't even challenge The FREAKIN TORTURE being done around the world in our name.

The D.C. Democrats didnt do much of anything except curl into a ball and wimper for years against the might of the Presidents enormous 30 approval ratings.

But then a funny thing happened...instead of listening to what they shouldn't do from these Beltway insiders, they listened to what they should do from the American people...

And, surprise surprise, they overwhelmingly won the November 2006 elections. Six months later, and the Country is pretty happy with Congressional Democrats challenging this unpopular president -- EVEN WHEN THE BELTWAY PRESS CORP SAYS THEY SHOULDN'T.

Which isn't good for the Beltway Press Corp.

You see, republicans have their press corp. They have their Rush Limbaughs, Bill O'Reillys, Ann Coulters and Fox News.

They publically kick dirt at the 'liberal media establishment.' They never listen to them or do anything that they say.

The only ones who did, D.C. Democrats, have suddenly stopped listening. So, what's the Dean of the Washington Press Corp supposed to do? Obviously, try to get the guy spitting on his tea party fired.

Sorry bud, but you don't speak for the American People, Harry Reid does and it's about damn time.

Dems

3. I like this paragraph.
"Given the way the Constitution divides warmaking power between the president, as commander in chief, and Congress, as sole source of funds to support the armed services, it is essential that at some point Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi be able to negotiate with the White House to determine the course America will follow until a new president takes office."

How does the idiot expect Pelosi and Reid to negotiate with a pResident who has openly stated that he will not negotiate. Sounds like an "is" moment to me.

5. I sent Broder an email

Dear Mr. Broder:

Your column castigating Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid for his behavior was rife with irony. Your accusations of "amateurish performance" and "ineptitude" could just as easily be applied to the Washington press corp, as Bill Moyers showed America so grippingly Wednesday evening.

Are you at all ashamed at your own hypocrisy? You criticize the ranking member of the opposition party for doing his job, for keeping the compact "we the people" demanded in November, when you and the majority of your peers in the mainstream news media failed to do your own.

Given the flagrantly craven behavior of the news media in the face of an administration beating the drums of war, with little to no factual information to back it up, I can only paraphrase your own words back to you, sir:

The American people deserve better, and the country needs more, than the news media has offered as the watchdog of democracy.

Whaddya think?
