Armed Madhouse by Greg Palast
This is a great read from a real investigative reporter, who actually runs down his own leads and provides a much clearer picture of the workings of the Bush/MSM War in Iraq. After watching Bill Moyer tonight, I plan to always credit the MSM for their partnership with Bush/Cheney in this war. Palast does a great job of presenting the background of this convulsive quagmire of the Bush/MSM war for petrodollars and all the sideroads and backroads that they have taken us along the way, and does it with good humor. For whatever it is worth, you will enjoy and learn from it.

some reviews of Armed Madhouse.

“I would urge you to read Greg Palast’s latest book, Armed Madhouse. He does for the national elections what I did for the Ohio election…. He shows exactly how this election was stolen–not just in Ohio but in many other states as well.”
— Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

“For all its humor, I find the book a serious resource of information for action and organizing, covering war, oil, economic struggle and globalization.”
— Medea Benjamin, Founder, Code Pink

“Greg Palast is Jack Kerouac meets Seymour Hersh. That’s quite a combination. The guy is insightful, entertaining, and does his homework.”
— Buzzflash.com

“Palast’s stories bite. They’re so relevant they threaten to alter history - simply by letting the hoodwinked public in on the game while it’s happening. Palast is exactly what a journalist is supposed to be - a truth hound, doggedly independent, undaunted by power.”
— Chicago Tribune Media Services

“Palast, a tough-talking, fedora-wearing corporate fraud investigator turned intrepid journalist, has a habit for finding actual documents and then using them in edgy exposes.”
— LA Times

“Upsets all the right people.”
— Noam Chomsky

“I bought my father a copy.”
— Janeane Garofalo, Air America

“The Sid Vicious of Journalism.”
— Pacifica Radio

3. Where and what time? I've seen him. He rocks!
I have so much respect for him. He broke the story of the purge of black voters that the rest of the media couldn't be bothered to cover.

2. Terrific book!
Edited on Thu Apr-26-07 02:24 AM by Kool Kitty
I bought it when it first came out last year, and had to buy another one when it came out in paperback this week because it's been updated. Worth every penny, believe me. He's going to be in NYC on May 1 with Robert Kennedy, Jr. and Randi Rhodes, a fundraiser for WBAI. I am so looking forward to it.

4. I agree. Very funny smart reading. I went to hear him speak, and
he layed out how Iraq was created by an, english man I think he said chruchill who grouped all the oil wells, and then had all the oil companys sign a contract saying that they would not take the oil out of the country. By keeping that pledge the demand stays high and so does the profit. Too bad that under the patriot act he cannot do what he makes his living at-investigative journalism.

6. Keeping Iraq's oil fields capped
Edited on Thu Apr-26-07 02:56 AM by Jack Sprat
This placates the Saudis, who are all too grateful to the Bush Crime Family. About 80% of Iraq's oil is capped so that prices and demand remain high and everyone in BushCo is happy, including their Texas oil buds. What little oil that Saddam could put on the market in the Oil for Food Program, he jerked production around so much that they all agreed to take him down. Saddam was a hoodlum, but no worse than Bush, Cheney, and pals. They are fairly equal in thievery, murder, and mayhem.

7. I have it in Audible.com format, and it's a great "listen".
But I may yet buy it in hard copy also. The latest edition is supposed to be updated and expanded, to include new material.
