What are your political reasons for football allegiances?

10. They've come as close as anyone to dislodging the Packers as truly America's team
because of Katrina.

19. And along with those other great things you mentioned....
Hurricanes (the drink, not the weather phenomenon) gumbo, colorful beads and the casual and frequent display of beautiful body parts. :)

11. My beloved Sonny Jurgensen lead the NFL in passing at 40. Sigh...
I don't understand the hate for Favre.

6. I think that fandom for sports teams has very little to do
with politics. It's more of a visceral thing. I'm a Vikings fan, of sorts, because it's easy when you live in the Twin Cities and less likely to get you into trouble when you're eating a burger in a sports bar.

13. If any NFL team deserves to be in the Super Bowl...
It's the Saints. The Saints have never been to a Super Bowl. They are truly an NFL underdog.

And it will be hard to find another NFL team with such loyal and passionate fans. Saints fans have had to endure many crappy seasons and it would be nice to see Hell freeze over. A Super Bowl appearance would be a great boost that the city desperately needs.

Because after all my city has been through, we deserve a Super Bowl!!
And for the first time in the franchise's 43 year history!! Sorry Viking fans, you had 4 shots at it and blew them all!! Political reasons? Nah!! There is simply no other city like New Orleans in America in cuisine and character!! And after what the citizens of my fair city have been through in the past few years, well, we're due. End of story.

20. Politics, schmolitics. I *have* to root for the Vikes because I'm a Minnesotan.
Back in the 70s when I really, really cared they broke my heart and stomped it all to pieces.

But now they want me back. They want to make it all up to me. I know they're really sorry about what happened before. They want me to believe in them again. They NEED me. I never stopped loving them, I realized they just couldn't help themselves. They're really good inside. I know they really care about me. It's going to work out this time, I know it.
