how I framed the SCOTUS ruling to a conservative coworker
let me be clear, I am 100% pro-choice..... But my coworker is pro-life and I'll never change his mind about it.

Here's what I said to him:

"you are perpetually outraged that the Supreme Court ruled 37 years ago that fetuses aren't human enough to be covered by the Bill of Rights, but you don't care that they ruled yesterday that non-human entities like corporations and unions are?"

I could see the cognitive dissonance burning a little hole in his primitive brain.....

2. Nice. The right wing coworker I talked to isnt religious, so I framed it using unions
in their eyes unions are the most powerful entites on planet mother fucking earth. So if you point out unions can now spend all the money in the world on politics their heads will explode.

This could be a winning issue for us. Most people are against it even if the reasoning for being against it is different.

3. Good one. Just think in terms of their particular pet issue and apply it.
It really does screw their base just as much as it screws us.

4. That was the best kind of zing. The slow burn zing...
the zing lasts long after the initial comment.

6. I am trying to point out to them that...
the US fought a war against British colonial rule only to have the Supreme Court put it back only now the US will be a colony ruled by more than one foreign country via multinational corporations. The irony of it is breathtaking.

7. We're all pro-life, "they" are anti-choice. Plus, I'm annoying my own neighbors...
and I'm proud of it.

I'm pretty much surrounded by Falwellian fundies who are dancing over Brown plus this SC ruling. So I've started quoting to them the biblical passage from Revelations that says the false prophet was allowed to create an "image" of the "beast" and make it "speak" like a man. And then no one could buy or sell unless they were marked with the number of the beast.

Yeah, I know, but I've been listening to their propaganda for so long, I can't help playing head games with them. I love to see them temporarily speechless. But they'll be back. Nice try on your part, though.

8. I've been telling all the ones I know
that this means China, Saudi Arabia, etc will now be able to buy a company and finance elections.
They're still mostly not very bright and can't really be relied on, even if you can make them angry about this.
The next time Fox dangles a new shiny before them they'll forget this ever happened.

10. Good! You knew that you had to spell it out to 'em
Some times just saying multinational corporations leaves some of 'em confused.
Uh, what? Big words.

They'd never been able to follow KO's vocab and complex sentences. They're on ground level.
