Vulnerable Democrats ask Congress, Obama to extend Bush tax cuts
More good news. /sarcasm off

http://thehill.com/homenews/house/77415-vulnerable-dems-want-extension-of-bush-tax-cuts

Two House Democrats in tough reelection races are asking Congress and President Barack Obama to extend the Bush administration tax cuts.

Reps. Bobby Bright (D-Ala.) and Mike McMahon (D-N.Y.) asked members in a “Dear Colleague” letter Thursday to support extending the tax cuts, which passed in 2001 and 2003 and are set to expire this year, for at least another two years. Specifically, Bright and McMahon are asking lawmakers to sign a letter to Obama asking him to include the tax cuts in his budget plans for 2010.

“Allowing these tax rates to expire during this recession runs the risk of curtailing economic expansion just when it begins to pick up and could lead to a ‘double dip’ recession,” says the letter to Obama.

In the letter to the president, the members say the Bush tax cuts should not be allowed to expire. That would put them in opposition to Obama’s stated plan of letting some of the tax cuts meant for the wealthy to expire while keeping breaks in place for the poor and middle class, consistent with his campaign pledge of not raising taxes for anyone making less than $250,000 a year.

(end snip)

I have no words right now. Except that these two need to be wearing their corporate sponsor patches that we talked about yesterday.

1. just increase tax on the top tier the super rich and have corporation windfall taxes
cap the corporations that they can't charge the consumer more if there is a windfall tax.

What happened to all the taxes for the companies escaping offshore?

Have tax cuts/incentives for small businesses.

4. The SCOTUS effect.
Look for a lot more of this kind of reactionary behavior from Congressional Democrats.

Already the effects of the Supreme Court's corporate campaign spending decision is making the vulnerable scurry into the darkness.

5. Maybe we should take a page from the GOP's playbook and
cut taxes for the poor and middle class so much that there's no more room for a tax cut for the rich.

6. Now once and for all--you can see exactly who their constituents
are. It is not the Working Class and Poor. Centrist
Democrats directly go for Republicans in their states.

They compete with Republican Candidates for Republican
Constituency and throw enough bones to middle class
and poor to bring their votes over the top.

This is why Earmarks are so important to them.

Example: Landrieu--votes in Senate against her own
party and Democrats in her districts. Makes deals
for earmarks. Her earmarks are directed to the
poor and middle class. The Louisiana Purchase shores
up Medicaid. These earmarks make the Louisiana Paers
and TV news. It appears she looks out for the poor
while she voted Republican the whole year.

I am not bashing Landrieu. This is the way they
operate. The rest of the country pays dearly
for all these earmarks.

Of course they need to extend the taxcut. They need
their Republican Constituency to vote for them.

Democrats had been learn to get out and vote especially
in Mid Term Elections. One half the country does not
vote and it is not just poor people.

Extend the taz for rich??
