Conservatives are too stupid and myopic to realize this ruling hurts them as well

The corporations don't care about "conservative" vs "liberal" in the population. They just want profits.

The money in the conservative's wallet is just as green as mine.

And the corporations will buy and support whichever politician guarantees more profit for the corporation.

It's going to come in the form of government subsidies... that come from tax dollars... that come from the pockets of both liberals and conservatives.

Initially... it will help GOP candidates... but within a few years, the political parties will no longer need to exist. *EVERY* candidate will be an "independent"... getting money from his/her sponsoring corporation or corporations.

The Freepers who are "keeping score" as if this was a game don't even realize that they will just be sources of income for the overlords like liberals will.

We're all in the same boat, freepers and DUers alike. And that boat is the Titanic.

....only DUers are smart enough to realize it.... Freepers won't realize it until it is too late.

2. Correct...
They are just pawns in the game and don't realize it. Perhaps when a quite literal totalitarian government is in place, they'll realize how stupid they were. Perhaps when they try to complain about corporate welfare for the banks and they get thrown into a concentration camp, they'll get it. You can't complain about the corporations receiving bailout money and then support their right to buy off the fucking politicians.

3. The crux of the problem. They have never gotten it that the battle is between
those at the top and the working class. They've been sold on that idea that anyone who works hard can make it to the top and have no idea that all the laws get passed to make it almost impossible to get ahead or, these days, even stay in the same place.

4. They don't give a flying frack...
so long as they think their side is winning. And that's exactly what their handlers in the media will be preaching to them tomorrow and the next day and the day after.

5. I liken it to cheering their home baseball team.
Sure, they win because the refs have been bought by the owners. But while they've been cheering on their team, the owners have been busy cleaning out their homes. It's gonna suck when they wake up and realize the mistake they made.

The sad thing is big money has spent a couple of generations working hard to divide the nation into 2 "teams" in a zero sum game. Turns out, their past choices delivered us the majority opinion in the SC today and this is going to make everyone's political opinions obsolete. At some, not so distant point in the future, political labels will be meaningless. The politicians that win will be the ones that are bought by the deepest pockets.

We've been demonized as "socialists", but now they'll get to live their dream of unregulated capitalism - hope they enjoy it! Can't wait till they rise up to confront the military industrial complex with their 30-06's....

6. Here's another problem what about a foreign corporation
Edited on Thu Jan-21-10 11:26 PM by doc03
such as Bayer, Volkswagon, BP, Citgo, Arcalor Mittal Steel etc. A company in a foreign nation could actually buy and control our government. Even a company from owned entirely by the Chinese government could buy our government. This is truly frightening and has to be stopped now.

8. That's probably the angle you'd need to get them to really stop and think.

9. Yea you have to be an American citizen to vote but the
Russian billionaire that I work for could buy our government. This ruling is a basically a coup.

7. So, the Freepers are loving today's SCOTUS ruling?
I have wondered about that.

Glenn Beck screams all day long about how we're marching toward Fascism and how the corporations
are taking over. He seems to get some of the corporatism stuff (even though he ignored it all
while Bush was doing it). So, I'd be shocked if Beck and his minions didn't realize how horrible
this is for our country.
