4. it's just too much... each of those pictures being just one of hundreds of thousands
Pictures 33 through 36 are so moving, in a different and wonderful way--a few spots of beauty in an unimaginable tragedy. I hope the world continues to respond with so much compassion and determination. The suffering is unfathomable... not just the physical suffering (although what could be a more helpless feeling than having two broken legs like the man in #25) but the immeasurable grief, either from knowing that loved ones have died or from not knowing.

for a very long time.

7. I SHOULD avoid those pictures
They lead to other sensory reactions from actual memories.

Nothing worst, and the photo cannot convey it, than the screams for help and you know it will TAKE HOURS to get to them, if ever.

11.  I shared that link on my Facebook page with a request that people
find a way to donate to relief efforts. I suggest that everyone else post the link or e-mail it to as many people as possible with a similar request.

13. Broken legs can kill if not taken care of.
I just don't think of those injuries until I see them.

On 9/11, the only disaster I've ever been part of, we had first class hospitals intact, fully staffed, and waiting for any survivors we could find. We just didn't have any after that first day. In Haiti, they have so many survivors, and the hospitals they had are as broken as the other buildings. Doctors are dead and dying like everyone else. I see them helping each other and I know it isn't enough. I know how grateful I was on 9/11 for every word and wish of support and when I see these teams from everywhere on earth, bless them and keep them well every day of their worthy lives.

17. You know what's missing from those photos? Rebar.

There's no rebar in so many of the buildings. My God. Those poor people were living in cement death traps.
