So, even if we don't actually get Cheney impeached, or Rove indicted, or the judiciary fixed, at least the GOP will not get a decent chance at the presidency in 2008.

And for that, we can all be greatful.

To me that whole development has the markings of an intentionally instigated constitutional crisis. Based on who the head of that office is, what they normally investigate (which is apparently NOT things occurring at such a high-level on the Executive food chain), and the fact that this provides Rove and Co. with a ready-made excuse to clam-up (I can already hear the "We cannot comment, due to the ongoing investigations, Senator..." excuses revving up as we speak!) or otherwise deign not to cooperate with our Representatives in their investigations (present or future) regarding these (fairly obviously) criminal matters. Coupled with the fact that I don't trust ANY investigation(s) instigated by the Executive Branch OF the Executive Branch. The cherry on top here being the fact that CNN is all over the story (apparently) on the very day the news comes out ...

I regard this development as being EXTREMELY sketchy based upon what I've seen posted so far on DU today (assuming I'm reading at least mostly accurate information regarding this 'investigation' and the people involved in it).

I just dunno. I honestly hope you're right to be excited and my cynicism is ... just that :)

but I'll keep a little of my enthusiasm. I like to over-do it, mostly to keep myself from giving up completely. :-)

There are quite a few Democrats in the background doing investigations. They ought to just start with the A's and go down the list. BushCo has infiltrated every single govt agency. It's going to take a long time.
