485 Jobs Lost as Chrysler Fires American Ad Agency, now paying an Italian ad agency for advertising

485 Jobs Lost as Chrysler Fires American Ad Agency

Advertising Age magazine reports that Fiat/Chrysler, after taking $14 billion in American taxpayer bailout money, has dropped Chrysler’s longtime ad agency, BBDO Detroit. Fiat/Chrysler is now paying an Italian ad agency for a new advertising campaign.

Fiat/Chrysler’s move is forcing the agency to close its Detroit office, which will put 485 people out of work. The agency was prohibited in its contract with Chrysler from taking on any other clients

Chrysler also left this American ad agency with $58 million in unpaid bills upon filing for bankruptcy protection in May.

2. Old news - my recollection is that a Minneapolis ad agency is the permanent replacement
The Italian ad agency is just to reuse material for one campaign.
