Rep. Mica's Daughter Charged With DUI


MAITLAND, Fla. -- Police in central Florida say the blood-alcohol content for U.S. Rep. John Mica's daughter was more than twice the legal limit.

A Maitland police report showed D'Anne Leigh Mica, 34, was arrested early Friday morning on a charge of driving under the influence. She was stopped after an officer spotted her car drifting back and forth. He noticed a smell on her breath and wrote in the report that her eyes were glassy, red and bloodshot.

D'Anne Mica told the officer she was coming from a Mexican restaurant in downtown Orlando and admitted drinking a couple of vodka cocktails.

She failed field sobriety tests and the officer later administered two breath tests. She was booked at the Orange County Jail and later released on $500 bail.

5. You're right, but...

She's a freaking drunk driver, and that's reason enough. We should hold DUI folks up to public ridicule on a regular basis. Nothing else seems to work, and the laws don't punish them appropriately until they actually kill someone with their bad, deliberate decisions.

It was a Friday morning. D’Anne Leigh Mica blew a 0.198. That same Friday morning kids got on buses to go to school. She could have killed a kid - or anyone on the road, for that matter. It makes no difference what political party her Congressman-father is a member of. The key is, Congressman John Mica is the Ranking Republican Member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee - the same Committee that each of us look to, to keep American roadways safe. John and D’Anne Mica are hypocrites and losers, on the transportation-industry dole. Look at D’Anne’s “Mica Communications” client-list still published. And just because spoiled brat D’Anne gets her publicist-friends to blog to newspaper message-boards in her “defense”, doesn’t mean we need to listen to them. What we can do, though, is write the Girl Scouts of Citrus Council and ask them if they still want D’Anne Leigh Mica working as their publicist.
