I mean you might have to take your shoes off mightn't you? And there could be an embarassing moment when you exposed youself... and you might seem like a person lacking in foresight or respect or both...

Well who's feet are these????

7. His girlfriend is a SAUDI MUSLIM...of COURSE he had to know
Either he's cheap, he's obtuse, he's showing his disdain, or he has an inability to put two and two together. What, maybe he thought he'd be just looking at the outside of the joint? I mean, come on!

Those socks with the tuff toes and heels are popular over that way, for understandable reasons.

2. He was told to wear holy socks to a mosque
and he thought they meant socks full of holes. Easy mistake to make.

6. Maybe it just happened. I have shoes that do that every time I wear them.
Even more interestingly, who cares? Why is this newsworthy? Personally I think it's a plus. No reason to throw things out every time they get a tiny defect.

8. It is rather disrespectful. And this guy is well off, I don't think he buys his socks at WalMart.
Or he puts up with shoes that shred his socks...

It points out that he's either unaware, cheap or disdainful. It shows that he didn't think the visit through, as he should have. He needs a dresser, apparently....

9. I think it is interesting because it shows an inability to
think through the consequences of his actions.

But I guess all the neocons suffer from that.

I'd love to think Wolfie was a green and was nobly refusing to buy new socks to help save the planet he and his pals have helped f*ck up so royally... but what are the chances... really...

10. I think you're reading too much into it.
Although you are probably right it's not out of some sense of environmentalism in his case!

I just don't understand why every time there's an article about an animal in distress (like the current Barbaro threads) everyone has to jump in and say how unimportant it is and why can't we discuss the war, but articles about someone's socks never seem to inspire that reaction.

11. It's not really disrespectful. actually.
Many men pray barefoot. In fact, for the ritual ablutions, I think bare feet would be a necessity. Also, it's wrong to insult a man for being frugal. Adlai Stevenson had a hole in his shoe and the elitist Repugs made fun of him for it. Remember what Jesus said. Let's not be hypocrites.
