Next year Ford will offer a touchscreen located where a radio usually goes.
You'll be able to surf the web,,call friends..use assorted programs and all kinds of fun stuff.

Unfortunately ..I'LL BE IN FRONT OF THESE ..ah.. PEOPLE.

Christ...1/2 the population can hardly walk and chew gum at the same time and they're suppose to drive with MORE distractions.

I'm fed up with this crap! Pay attention and Drive..damnit

3. I was almost hit the other day. I had the light, gal on phone not
paying attention was making her turn and I just knew she didn't know I was there. She was very animated, maybe angry on the phone. She finally saw me and got this shocked look on her face. I gave her one damned dirty look and she just shook her head and drove on. I guess it was my fault as a pedestrian that I got in her way...LOL.

4. I have a touchscreen operated radio, climate control, navigation, etc.
The system prevents you from entering coordinates while the car is in motion (except by voice command).

I anticipate there will be a lock out like this for websurfing and other distracting activities.

BUT:

Now people will be screwing with stuff at stop lights and not see when the light turns green.

And they'll sit there, like people do on cellphones, and expect you to wait until they're done.

So, yeah, maybe a BAD idea!!!

5. Can't use a cell phone while driving in CT, but I'll be able to surf the web?
Holy shit...what drugs are these people on? I can't wait for the first lawsuit from the family who loses a loved one because he was downloading YouTube videos of dancing kittens while driving on I-95 through NY.

16. Impressive, isn't it?
People already fiddle around with their stupid GPS's -not paying attention to where they're going.

8. how does this not open Ford up to the possibility of being a codefendent
If there were an accident due to the driver being distracted, I would certainly sue them as well as the driver. I suppose the (flimsy) case could be made that access to the Web etc is for the benefit of the person in the passenger seat, not the driver, but juries and judges aren't completely stupid. I mean, the liability due to having this in a CAR, which has only one purpose, is different from that of a cell phone's being used while a person is driving (which, btw, I absolutely oppose as well), since a cell phone can be used any time and the Car Internet is basically only used while the car is in motion.

dollars in revenue causing the government to have to bail them out again next year, or so hopes Fords CEO's. Got to love those free corporate government hand outs. or what he said above, same result though. edited to add that.

12. A good friend was injured in an accident...
The driver in the other car was using his new GPS and not concentrating on driving. Many things cause distraction and people don't know that they're driving while distracted.
