Edited on Thu Dec-31-09 09:20 AM by LearnedHand
Especially since the US of A is a wholly owned subsidiary of the corporations.

Edited to say: I'm trying to be hopeful about Obama. He's a wonderful person and a scholar par excellence. I just hope he can extricate himself from the influence of the idiots who drove our country to where it is today.

37. Hear hear!
Started with the F**** election of 2000 ("count every vote..."), ended with me out of work! There were definitely some high points along the way, a great job I had and mourn the loss of; Obama's election; daughter's flowering; but overall, I think the world moved backward - led by Bush.

did they coincide with a personally sucky decade.

So that makes it a double header of suckiness from where I stand

I hope 2010 is better, although I have about given up on things improving, at least for me personally.

Actually, Jan. 1-Nov. 3, 2000 was pretty good. I bought my house then. My biggest worry was that my boss would retire before I got my 30 years in. I got 20 in before our plugs were both pulled by the Busheviks. Fucking fuckers.

When Holder announced the feds were going to lay off the legal states.

That decision is THE reason I will be employed soon. My buddy is opening a shop and I'm going to be running the bakery and candy kitchen. I get giddy just thinking about it.

Looking forward to actually enjoying my job for a change. :)

Which means this decade even sucked for the corporations whose policies ruled the decade. Heckuva job, Masters!

29. 2010 - 2019 will be worse
We have another two or three decades of increased competition for resources and rising global tensions and conflict.

Then we will have a couple of decades of global wars.

1618 - 1648 Thirty Years War
1789 - 1815 French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars
1914 - 1949 WW I through the Chinese Revolution

2040 - 2070 Next Global War

30. Wave theories are bunk.
The cycle gets redrawn every time the data fails to match the prediction.

For all I know a gamma wave burst will wipe out life on earth in 2012.

34. This cycle goes back to the Black Death
The Black Death significantly reduced the European population. It then expanded vigorously until the Wars of the Reformation. There was another expansion leading up to the Thirty Years War, especially as American crops were introduced to European agriculture. The Thirty Years War reduced population in Germany by about one third.

While a gamma ray burst may wipe out life on earth, it is a very low probability event.

Global war using biological weapons is much more likely, and it would easily wipe out a third or more of the global population sometime between 2030 and 2080.

35. I always thought that decades started with "1" like 2001 and ended in a zero, like 2010.
Did I miss the memo? Did the MSM change this when I wasn't looking? Did the first century actually start with year "0"?

45. No you are actually right
The 21st century actually started on January 1, 2001. This date also actually started this decade. In reality, we've still got a year left on this decade; it will not end until December 31, 2010. There was no year zero, so the first decade of the Christian era started with the year 1 and ended with the year 10. But to point out such facts to people is futile when they are attuned to seeing the the change from "99" to "00" or "09" to "10" akin to an odometer on a car. So just relax and go with the fallacy!! You won't change people's minds anyway!!

But there was no 0BC

That's the year that's missing.

The year 2000 was MM

46. I'm not very opimistic about the date rolling over as
Did our lousy cheap , whore, riddled, payed off , lairs in the stinking government did at our expense. Let them climb down in the hole they forced many of us and let them live in FEMA trailers for min wage or no job at all with no healthcare , let them tell us how we should like it. Let the capital building and white house go to the people as housing and toss these criminals the hell out with their lies and position and on top of the table wealth. Their damn fancy offices and everything most can't even imagine let alone being in office for decades and have done NOTHING ! Fucking freaks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When are we going to wake up to the fact that not one of them cares and the few who do have no power?

I don't get how anyone can say they love a rep or president when they really don't know them at all , that is insane, they are an illusion , a person made into some god when they are NOT.
