32. Lol!
I think we've all noticed the trend that Prosense is highlighting here. The naysayers on both sides of the aisle have been getting their asses kicked up and down the Internet with well known liberal organizations, publications and public figures literally staring open-mouthed at the expressions of hate towards the President and his administration over passage of this bill. Not a day goes by without some prominent liberal basically saying "what the HELL is going on??" with some (thankfully few) members of the liberal "base."

It would be almost be funny if it weren't so short-sighted and ridiculous.

Kicked and rec'd. Thanks, Prosense.

20. Maybe because these folks aren't getting any more money or any more fame for these positions
Maybe that's why you can't tell. And if anything, they are getting scorn from their strongest supporters, which they appear to be enduring for little benefit.

Besides, when have you seen Feingold willing to support anything that he thinks is wrong for any reason whatsoever? Me neither. So maybe he doesn't think it's wrong. And I can't think of any issue where there is any connection between him being "paid off" and his voting.

102. campaign backing from their own party
This is the result of arm twisting. Toe the line or you get no party campaign money, they'll back a primary oponent against you, lose your chairmanships (and if you don't have any keep you from ever getting one), basically make you irrelevant for the remainder of your term after which you'll be replaced by someone who's willing to toe the line.

When it comes to keeping principles or saving their career, not a one of them will ever refrain from nailing every toe to the line. They like their jobs and will do whatever it takes to keep them.

And furthermore, I am sure we'll agree with them again on another issue. It's a crazy complex world when you make your own analysis and form your own opinions.

YOU and the Democrats are from here on out (and at the very least- through 2010) going to be the party associated with the health insurance industry- with all of its attendant abuses (and medical bankruptcies).

No amount of spin or harping is going to change that perception- because, along with being believable (having been played out in public ad nauseum) and well suited for the upcoming Republican narrative re: mandates, it's true.

Republican strategists must be having a very fine holiday- and very much looking forward to the 2010 campaign.

in the pattern of postings.

As has been noted- one would be extremely hard pressed to find any issue on which you deviate even slightly from the party line of the day. Generally speaking, folks with that sort of stand for nothing pattern either get reimbursed- or ought to get reimbursed, if they have the ambition to earn a few bucks for their time.

What's wrong with that picture?

The survey of 2,999 households by Thomson Reuters Corp shows a public skeptical about the cost, quality and accessibility of medical care.

Just under 60 percent of those surveyed said they would like a public option as part of any final healthcare reform legislation, which Republicans and a few Democrats oppose.

Here are some of the results of the telephone survey of 2,999 households called from November 9-17 as part of the Thomson Reuters PULSE Healthcare Survey:

* Believe in public option: 59.9 percent yes, 40.1 percent no.

* 86 percent of Democrats support the public option versus 57 percent of Independents and 33 percent of Republicans.

for me, "recommending" means just that--I recommend those posts that I think others should read. This particular OP is not worthy of either rec or unrec (politicians patting themselves on the back, nothing new, and the bill does suck), but those that unquestioningly parrot some line of bull excusing the president from any wrongdoing or lying, that sneeringly call other posters haters/pony-wanters/"unrealistic", that indicate a hang-up about reccing/unreccing, that are posted to challenge revelations of wrongdoing by the administration by obfuscating/distorting/spinning/distracting, that sneer at efforts of people standing up against the Obama administration betrayals and lies--those I would not recommend, and I swiftly unrec the obvious swift-boaters.

71. Was referring to the OP's gushing headlines praising the bill with glowing endorsments
of their own decision to support it. They don't really think it's all that and a bag of chips, do they?

75. Sounds like they mean every word of what they're saying.
Saying someone doesn't mean what they're saying isn't much of a rebuttal.

A bunch of sellouts trying to pass off their sellout as progress is no trend. Politicians trying to pass off their garbage as accomplishments is as old as the sun.

25. Hehe, yeah thats a trend
HRC has a lot of gray area in it, but when you see a list of folks like that painting it a real pretty shade of blue, it becomes quite convincing that fears of this HRC being bad for America should fade away.

They want to see people die because this bill is not perfect.

39. You don't have even the first clue what you're talking about
Though of course, that doesn't mean you won't sound off repeatedly like a fool- making absurd claims about this bill that have little basis in reality.

Indeed- it's the proponents of this legislation who are condemning an ever increasing number of folks to high deductible, high copay insurance that they can't afford to use (and will die and/or bankrupt them as a result).

That's they trend for EVERYONE- thanks the the administration and the Senate.

61. What I find interesting to date is that this President is allowing
debate to reveal each and everyone of us; what is most important to us, and who is doing and saying what in this country; which groups are appealing to the better nature in us, and which are demonizing progress, no matter how slight. Which are willing to actually compromise not just on policy, as is usually expected in a country with varying views, but more interestingly, who is to be deemed the enemy in order to get what we think we are owed, which doesn't always have to do with what is best for this country, but what is best to empower certain ideologies no matter who they might hurt in the process.

It is quite interesting.

Edited on Sat Dec-26-09 07:39 PM by FrenchieCat
They don't believe anything will change drastically unless people suffer for their sins.
In a way, it is a religion that they are preaching;
the only difference is that their GOD is called principles.
They are wishing a plague upon our houses in order to make a point.
It is something akin to fundamentalism in my book.

81. What this clearly shows...
...is that The Party WILL close ranks to protect their system of the Status Quo.

This legislation IS Historic.
It IS the biggest sell out to the Corporate Interests to my memory, and probably in History.
It certainly surpasses the historic Wall Street Billionaire Bailout.

It is arguable that NAFTA did MORE damage to the Working Class, but we won't really know for about 5 or 6 years years.
The Democrats closed ranks and celebrated after NAFTA calling it "historic" and "landmark" too.

ALL for the GREATER GLORY of The Party.
The illusion of a Two Party System MUST be maintained or they will be out of a job.

The millions of Americans who will gain coverage and see their premiums go down drastically really don't care about your memory.

97. And where is the money coming from to "subsidize" that coverage?
It IS coming from the Public Treasury, taxes on the Middle Class, fines imposed on those too poor to afford to BUY even under the MANDATE, of the defunding of Medicare, AND it WILL be handed over directly TO the For Profit Health Insurance Cartel, an industry that manufactures NOTHING, and produces NO wealth (value added).
At least the Oil Cartel gives us OIL.

Some Scam, eh?

I don't support the transfer of Public Wealth to For Profit Entities that manufacture NOTHING, create NO Wealth, and provide NO essential service....

For Instance, the Health Insurance Industry.
Corporate Welfare for a worthless parasitic corporation is immoral and obscene.
Some of our Public Wealth WILL be used to buy Yachts and Summer Homes in Aspen for the uber wealthy in return for.....what?

And clearly that nickname bothers you because deep down you know you couldn't really argue an issue on its own merits.
