No you probably can't think of any ways that the health care bill is different from automobile racing, but that's why you've got me here, to answer all the big questions.
You see, in automobile racing the head guy, the Race Car Driver, all he cares about is winning the race. He doesn't care about the car, he doesn't care about the manufacturer, he doesn't care about his own safety, none of that. All that Racer wants is his name in the win column. Now you might say that's just like our political system; the top guys only care about winning - nothing at all matters to them but that when one gets chalked up it will be will be in the winner's column. So they are the same, are they not?
No I say, they are not the same. At least in automobile racing you get a public good in that the safety of all cars improves as a result of lessons learned on the race track. Show me the public good when elected officials only care about the win column and don't give a rat's behind about any public good emerging from their actions .
