A REBEL leader has vowed to snatch Prince Harry in Iraq - then slice his ears off and send him home.

The prince is due to begin a six-month tour of duty next month. Two groups of insurgents have said they will target him. Getting to the royal would be a huge propaganda coup.

Sunni militants plan to kidnap the prince and demand the exchange of prisoners and withdrawal of British forces. Meanwhile, the Shia militia have been ordered to get the Queen's 22-year-old grandson in their sights.

Abu Zaid, a commander in the Mehdi Army Shia militia, said: "We are awaiting the arrival of the young, handsome, spoilt prince with baited breath.

BTW what a target he would be.

If something happened to Prince Harry the world would go absolutely ballistic.

It just never made sense to me that he would go there, and if he did, he would be surrounded by protection.

6. he is a British Army officer, he'd have to serve in Iraq or Afghanistan sooner or later.

I know the Bush family would have to be dragged kicking and screaming to serve in a war but the sense of duty and service is ingrained in the royals.

His uncle Prince Andrew served in the Falklands as a helicopter pilot, from interviews he makes it clear that it's not very nice to fly around with tracer bullets filling the air.

Harry may be third in line to the throne but the UK is a constitutional monarchy, it's not like Nancy Pelosi serving as a tank commander in Iraq.
