The health insurance plan the religious right has bought into

I think Joe Hill called it "Pie in the sky when you die." And as he said. "That's a lie!"

Willful lies offered by those who have given nothing, yet promise everything. Streets paved with gold. The sound of angels singing. No hungry children. No sickness or pain. No war. All the things they couldn't or wouldn't ever attempt to bring to fruition on earth.

Where are the fruits of their devotion to their creeds? Have they passed labor laws to protect the meek from their bosses? Where is the compassion for the ones who shall inherit the earth? Why no universal healthcare? Were they not called on by their savior to heal the sick? Feed the hungry? Why no victory over hunger? Why only endless war? And empty words? What happened to their promises of Peace on Earth? Instead, "they sing and they clap and they pray."

Living in the world they made. Half fantasy, half nightmare. And then they promise us there is a better place. "Pie in the sky when you die" sang Joe Hill. "That's a lie."
