Will this Health Insurance Reform Work?
I'm not so sure.

You see, prior to reform, health insurance was becoming too expensive for more and more Americans. And it's lousy for business when people can't afford your product. So, for this "reform" to work, either:

1.) The reforms force prices down.

-- or --

2.) The mandate actually makes people buy the product regardless of cost.

-- or --

3.) The government subsidizes the rising costs to the point where people can afford insurance again.

Kucinich has said over and over again that these "reforms" won't work and this issue will keep coming back. I think he's right.

1. I currently have health insurance but cannot afford medical treatment
because my co-pays are too expensive.

So this bill won't help me. In fact, I am sure I will spend more on health care a year from now as I do at this time.

6. Until we address fee-for-service, costs will continue to escalate.
Lexus health care for the wealthy is forcing routine healthcare to become rare and expensive.

7. I agree
and my brother's small business premiums went up 21% this year. He is sooooo happy to be allowed to buy insurance.

2. Wait and see
That is where I am at now. I was strongly opposed to this but I am willing to give it a chance, maybe it will be a framework to build upon and then it will eventually become real reform.

4. Obama said he wanted to be the last president to deal with this
I'm afraid that once he signs a bill with "healthcare" in it's title he'll consider the issue closed.

And, if all the calls, letters, emails & "our" Senators and Reps didn't result in a better bill this time - what makes you think they'll listen to us in the future?

5. I don't know
At this point I'm just hopeful something good can come out of this. But the battle is over as far as if this bill is going to be passed I think. Its going to happen so might as well make the best of it and try to improve and fix it eventually.
