1. Their ancestors didn't even originate in the same part of the country.

Some genealogist gets going and linked them, but I can't find anything. If you wanted to you could link yourself to all the Kings and Queens and Earls and Royalty the world over. Instead of really wanting to find out where you came from, some genealogist think the more "fluff" they put in their line the more they display their worthness... Now me, I'd rather know my true ancestors, even if they were horse thieves or members of Jesse James' gang. Wouldn't you all.

2. to qualify as 'incestuous' the degree of relationship is generally...

considered to be: sibling, half-sibling, parent, grandparent, aunt or uncle; in some cases this extends to first cousins. Siblings have 50% of their DNA in common, as do a parent and child; half-siblings, aunts, uncles and grandparents have 25% of their DNA in common, and first cousins 12.5%. As a point of reference, Obama and Cheney are ninth cousins once removed through common descent from a French Huguenot named Mareen Duvall who emigrated to Maryland in the 1600's; Cheney is my ninth cousin once removed and Obama my tenth cousin once removed through the same common ancestor. Relationships so distant don't qualify as 'incest'; most incest laws prohibit marriage within the third degree of relationship (which includes those with 25% genetic identity) but not in the fourth degree (based on the prohibitions in the Old Testament book of Leviticus).
