***OMG! Dylan just pulled a "Tweety" !***
Went off on Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Asked her rapid-fire questions, wouldn't let her answer, demanded that she answer, yelled at her while she was trying to answer.

They were talking about the health care bill and he was demanding that she tell him why health insurance stock was up 10%. She said she wasn't a stock analyst, and he went bat shit crazy.

She finally told him he could be his own guest because he was answering his own questions. She also said that she'd be happy to answer his questions if he'd let her, but that it was a waste of her time otherwise.

She stayed very calm, but he was completely off the rails!

He owes her an apology.

22. I don't agree with her talking points.
Edited on Fri Dec-18-09 10:02 AM by dgibby
I'm with Howard Dean on this one. I just think Dylan's tactics were inappropriate. I don't like it when Tweety does it and I don't like it when Dylan does it. Reminds me too much of Bill O'Reilly's tactics. Just shout down anyone you disagree with. I do give him points for not cutting her mic off, though.

3. she stated we were transitioning to a "consumer-based" healthcare system
Edited on Fri Dec-18-09 09:52 AM by DrDan
he asked her how she could make that claim - the reason the stock are going up is because investors believe the insurers are bound to increase profits based on the HCR bill.

She could not address it - kept with the talking points. "We are transitioning to a consumer-based system". But could not explain why.

She deserved to challenged. She was nothing but sound-bytes - no substance to her rhetoric.

I like her - I like her a lot being from Florida - but she deserved that lashing.

He also put up a slide with 4 states where a single insurer holds ridiculous % of policies (NO competition) - like 89% in one case. He asked how the bill could claim to be consumer-driven when it will simply force more to those insurers where there is currently no competition. She could not address that very valid point.

Again - she deserved her treatment.

5. He had every right to challenge her talking points,
but he chose to bully her instead. It's impossible to challenge someone when you won't allow them to speak. He was a total ass.

THAT is not a good thing for the middle-class. It is a clear indication of how screwed we are.

17. THAT Was What She Was Going To Defend, He Was Playing OFFENSE
and she didn't want to hear it! Wasserman Schultz is better than some, but she isn't one who's against the current HCR bill. She wanted to defend THIS BILL!

What did he just say about his show? I'm not by my TV.

4. I Love Him... Answer The Damn Question! Rude Or Not... She Was Being
evasive. THIRD time I've posted this! I've been watching him for some time now and I really like the way he hold their feet to the fire!

You want MSM to get ask the HARD questions, then you demand THEY ANSWER THE QUESTIONS! Besides, Wasserman Schultz seems to be pushing for THIS HCR now! She voted for something recently that was with the "blue dogs" but I've forgotten what! She just wants THIS BILL, I don't and if she got slammed, so be it!!

15. Think About It... A Certain Amount Of Time... Move The Show Along....
That's how it is in the business. She should have answered instead of "beating around the bush!" Sorry, if you're in politics, gotta have thick skin! I realize she's hard hitting herself, seen a lot of her, but on this one, she was ONLY going to give "pat" answers! That was evident to me!

That's how I saw it, and it made me feel good that he was UNWILLING to let her SHILL!

Okay, I've defended him on THREE threads now... guess I can get back to my work here at home! I like the guy, actually a WHOLE BUNCH!!

27. Thanks... I LIKE Him & Would Like More People Demanding Straight Answers!
Perhaps he was harsh, but if that's what it takes, then so be it. I can't even begin to count the times I've seen people "dance" around questions and I just want to throw up my hands and scream!

We've had too much fiddling around the edges IMO and I'm tired of even "our" Democrats trying to do the same dance!

Just me! No offense taken! Just a difference of opinion, and I've always been fine with that!

30. Because she wouldn't answer the question. When politicians start
filibustering instead of answering the question if you don't put a stop to it they go on to run out the clock. It's not acceptable when Republicans pull that crap and I don't accept it from a politician with a D after their name either.

Yes, I said I was logging off, but wanted to check something and came back. Got to get some work done, IT'S ALMOST CHRISTMAS and I'm making money wreaths! Time consuming and I wonder why I chose wreaths instead of stars!!!

Christmas is only for the kids this year, so I always try to make if fun by making things out of dollar bills!

29. A few observations about Dylan:
1. I think he's on the right side, not the corporate side

2. He asks a 5-minute question and allows a 5-second response

3. He'd be better off letting his guests talk more as most of them would fashion their own noose, but

4. For someone who rails against soundbite discussions, Dylan depends on his own set of empty soundbites to "discuss" things.

5. Dylan would do better to abandon his soundbite/shout-'em-down strategy and arm himself with SPECIFIC facts and figures to counter his guest's not-so-specific soundbites. Until he does that, he's grandstanding just as much as are his guests.

I don't agree with her talking points, but I'm damn tired of the MSM aiming any of the fire they have at the Dems. Schuster, Tamron Hall, Rachel, Ed, and KO are pretty much the only ones who will consistently call them on their bullshit.

Those jackasses could get on teevee and say the Earth was flat, and the anchors wouldn't challenge them. They'd nod and ask some Dem to respond.
