6. Why? It is easy to say kill the bill and start over if you have health insurance and are already
covered. The people with pre-existing conditions can't just wait until whenever. Congress isn't going to let this fail and then start the entire thing over again right away - during an election year. That wont happen.

8. True. Sometimes it is best to just avoid DU if you can't take the hyperbolic rants.
The problem is that sometimes the freak-outs can just feed off of each other. A dose of perspective is needed.

9. I have a "count to 10" rule now
I often erase large parts of my posts after "counting to 10". Reacting in anger isn't a productive political tactic.

11. I don't post about 1/3 of the posts I write, mostly because they are too grotesque for DU.

5. Genuinely idiotic...
It's like Republicans saying "if you don't support President Bush's war on terror, you should refuse police and fire protection."

13. Because it is a universal bill?
Because the bill that is going to be passed will have universal coverage and we have to think of everyone, right?

Oh yaa, the new bill will not be a universal coverage bill.

It's going to force people to buy a private HMOs health care plan if they don't want it - great

With the way the bill is now, no bill is better than what exists.

15. Recognizing they'll never please both Lieberman and Nelson,
scrapping the bill and sending the whole mess to reconciliation is not killing the bill.

It should have gone to reconciliation right off the bat. This haggling with fetus fetishists, men throwing temper tantrums over losing primaries, and other lowlife is serving no one.
