The Republicans are much smarter than I gave them credit for.
It looks like the new health plan will do nothing except force us to pay tribute to large corporations at increasingly exorbitant rates. Medical care costs will destroy more families than it ever did before.
And now the Republicans can say as a group, 'we told you so.' and use it as an example of the kind of government that Democrats want.
They knew that there were enough paid off Democrats to kill any productive bill and turn it into a disastrous nightmare.
And as an added bonus they sat back and watched Democrat solidarity break down into disjointed petty feuding.
By not getting involved they did not become a target and the Democrats turned on themselves.
The next congressional elections will certainly bring the balance of power back to the Republicans and probably in a very strong way. The Democrats have given them a very persuasive argument. We may even have to endure a new Republican president in 2012.
It seems impossible to believe that Fox news and the teabaggers will control the most influential nation in the world again after 8 horrific years of Bush but our illustrious Congress seems to be insuring that this will be our future once more.
1. Not to mention that the benefits of this plan don't start until 2013
I can't believe how badly our majority is screwing everything up. I think it finally started hitting me this week. Although I shouldn't have expected anything better from Reid. I hope he loses. We'd be better off without that seat if it means someone like Sen. Durbin gets to be our new leader even with a reduced majority.
It looks bad in the House, The Senate though we might eek out a few wins and increase our majority by 2-3 seats, all while loosing Reid. it may end up being something like 63-37. we can finally give a big fuck you to Joe Lieberman and 2 other DINOS.. I do worry about the House though
8. The Republicans didn't do this: the White House did
And I think most people know that. Matt Taibbi and others have documented it well. It wasn't the GOP that health insurance lobbyists were going to visit in the White House the night before Obama's speech on health care.
Give it up. The GOP is crap, but there was no way to lose this one except from the top. Rahm got his mandates. The rest of it was piddly stuff to make it seem like a good fight.
