I will locate a women's health clinic that performs abortions. One that is routinely picketed by mobs of crazed blastocyst-worshiping, science-denying, sex-hating, unctuous, whiny, holier-than-thou, arrogant, hypocritical, delusional, paranoid, misogynist men or self-hating women. (But I repeat myself. A lot.)

I will search for groups that protect women from such harassment (Escorting them into the clinic and back or otherwise). This part starts at this very moment, and I begin by asking you folks for directions.

I will take pictures, post them at DU, and credit the source of my inspiration. In case you're wondering, no, although I vaguely entertained that notion at times, I was never actually determined to do that until a few days ago.

I've made very good friends in DU, and I took the initiative to go up there visit a number of them. You know who you are. :loveya: And it's been no secret that I want to do that again. Repeatedly. The aforementioned friends are all over the place. The East Coast. The West Coast. The Midwest. Hell, even the Deep South. The next visit may happen in a year, six months, two years, I don't know yet. But happen it will.

I'm so determined to do that I may even choose the city I visit based on what's the best place to perform this humanitarian duty.

So please help me help you. Where would this offer to help be most useful/effective?

I've seen some posts on doctors who are stepping up their practices after the murder of Dr. Tiller. So all I can give is a hint that these could be the way to determine locations. I applaud your goal.

5. Amazingly, this may be simpler and more straightforward than I thought.

Planned Parenthood has a system in which you register to receive openings for volunteer positions by e-mail. They're always needing escort clinics. You have to do a couple of hours of training in one afternoon, and then you're fit to help at X and Y days of the week.

8. Within 12 hours of registering at Planned Parenthood's volunteer openings e-mails, I got...

...clinic escort openings for a dozen states.

So, it seems to be a matter of (a) booking a flight to any random place in the US, and (b) checking my e-mail a week or so beforehand.

Also, I suppose it would only be practical if I stayed there for at least two weeks.
