Suggestion: Change the name of the "Department of Defense" back to the "Department of War"
The Pentagon should have a name that's honest, right?

The whole purpose of the place is prepping for and encouraging the onset of the next war, so why not return it to a name that admits that?

Any objections?

3. Yes, there was a refreshing honesty about the name Department of War
"Defense" sounds so noble and altruistic. Who could be against "defense"?

War, on the other hand, is a harder sell

4. Great idea!
Back when we had the War Department, there was no mistaking that we won our wars. Since the name change the record has been kind of mixed.

6. Your proposal might get as many as 20 votes in the House
I doubt a single Senator would agree, though.

I think Department of War is better.

10. changing the name doesn't change what it is
And what it is is the problem. If they changed the name back to the Department of War nobody would give a shit or even notice.
