Goldman Execs Arming Themselves for Uprising?
Posted by Dana Chivvis

Goldman Sachs executives may be arming themselves out of fear of a public uprising, according to a http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601039&sid=ahD2WoDAL9h0">Bloomberg column by Alice Schroeder. The columnist learned this from a friend who had been a reference for a Goldman banker trying to get a gun permit. Apparently, the unnamed banker is not alone.

Schroeder did not get a response from Goldman Sachs Spokesman Lucas van Praag, but the NYPD told her that some of the bankers had indeed received gun permits.

In addition to weaponry, Goldman Sachs is trying to arm itself against public outrage over the financial crisis and bailout by donating – along with Warren Buffett - $500 million. Chief Executive Lloyd Blankfein retracted an earlier statement that Goldman's greed had been "God's work" and apologized for participating in the events that led to the near collapse of our economic system.

But Goldman has a lot to defend itself against. The public fumed when it learned that Goldman Sachs had earned a record $27 billion in the first nine months of the year. Bankers who had caused the financial meltdown were profiting at enormous rates from the rest of America's tax dollars...

2. They'll shoot themselves in the foot if they don't get lessons
Buying a gun is idiotic if you don't know how to use it. Something tells me these spoiled Ivy league kids didn't get much experience with fire arms when they were children.

6. I look forward to the report of a banker shooting himself accidently
because he decided to play with his new toy. As someone who was raised around guns, I know how dangerous they are in the hands of an idiot.

5. They'll be showing off their guns at their Christmas parties
Look what I got to protect myself from the masses. I bet we read a report of one of them shooting someone accidently or themself after drinking too much and playing with their gun.

because they erroneously believed some commoner they encountered was out to get them.

27. whoa there guys, I was making fun of their paranoia
Fuck the Violence talk. I get the anger, but there ain't no point to that shit, you'd just give them an excuse to cramp down on everyones civil rights even more than they already are.

We have to know how to wage economic warfare against them. It's how they fight us. Fight fire with fire. Don't play by their rules, play by yours -economically I mean. Become more self-sustaining and less dependent on their system.

USE CASH -FUCK CREDIT DEBIT everything. It's all a scam. Credit Unions, not banks.

keep your money off the stock market -invest else where. Be creative. Be into the arts. Live a full life and have lots of ideas. Live those ideas. Stop just shuffling through life. Invest in yourself and your personal talent.

Don't succumb to the peer pressure to need their stupid status symbol products. Whatever you do, NEVER FEEL INSECURE -that's how they always snare you back into the bullshit.

But mostly never be afraid to speak your mind or be taken as a fool by others for speaking unfashionable truths. Reach out and warn others.

THAT is how we fight them.

26. I see no problem with bankers in NYC being able to arm themselves...
I do have a problem with how the very rich, the influential and the connected find it easy to get a firearm permit in the Big Apple, while the little guy has a difficult time jumping through all the hurdles.

According to an article by one Alice Schroeder on Bloomberg.com (and reported here on Field Notes last week), Goldman Sachs executives, with an eye toward public rage at the imminent whopper bonuses to descend on GS, are applying for pistol permits. Ms. Schroeder (who does not think much of handguns as protection) called the NYPD to verify, and was informed that some of the bankers she asked about do have permits, although the cops said it will “…be a while before it can name names.” (I will not hold my breath waiting to find out.)

Mayor for Life Bloomberg has made it nearly impossible for an ordinary citizen to get a carry permit in New York City, and the city does not recognize carry permits from anywhere else. There are seven categories of permits in NYC, including one for people who routinely carry large amounts of cash or have received threats against their lives.

Out of 8 million people, the NYPD has seen fit to issue about 2,200 of these permits. Getting one, for an ordinary person, requires both lots of time and lots of money. I’m told that the cops make it as difficult as they possibly can. But then Goldman Sachs executives are not ordinary citizens.
