Two men believed to be responsible for stealing GPS units and garage remote controls from vehicles to rob homes throughout southeast Michigan and in Ohio have been arrested by Pittsfield Township police.
Targeting mainly movie theater and restaurant parking lots, the thieves would use the home address in the GPS and the remote control to break into homes, Troy police Lt. Michael Lyczkowski said Monday.
"They were all over," Lyczkowski said. "Probably almost daily, they were going from Toledo to New Haven in northern Macomb County."
Christopher Cacicedo of Trenton and Phillip Trivett of Rockwood, both 23, remained in the Washtenaw County Jail on Monday on bonds of $25,000 and $20,000, respectively. They were arraigned Nov. 30 through 14A-1 District Court in Ann Arbor on charges of home invasion, larceny from a vehicle, breaking and entering and possessing criminal tools.
