Friday Night---Open Thread--Speak Your Mind.
Well what a week. Two Repukes homes or business raided. Both step down from their committee appointments. Obstruction-gate/Abuse of Power-gate exposed for all to see. Horrible tragedy in Virginia, followed by the horrible tragedy that is the Corporate Media. More blood and gore from Iraq. More admitted food poisoning.

Good News:

We got the republiCONs on the run.

The politicization of the Justice Department is in it's last throes.

Waxman and Conyers are fighting them over here so we don't have to fight them over there.

We are smokin' em out one criminal at a time.

Just because a news organization doesnt argue for the democrats and take their side in everything, that doesnt mean they are republican scum working for the Bush administration.

10. Im talking about MSNBC specifically
Let's start with a current thread.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=711613&mesg_id=711613

Just because NBC is playing somethign stupid a liberal said, doesnt make them anti-liberal and for the GOP. In fact, as somebody else posted, Alec Baldwin is employed by NBC and won a Golden globe for them this year in 30 Rock.

I personally think David Gregory, Chris Matthews, Tim Russert, and Brian Williams all dont deserve their treatment here. Just because they say something you dont agree with, doenst mean they are working for the Republicans. As a journalist, sometimes you have to be fair. In Chris Matthews' case, yes, he may of had a man-crush for John McCain, but he also is very hard on Bush with Iraq. To me, Tim Russert is one of the best interviewers I have ever seen. I think he is very fair personally. I think many people don't understand that sometimes you have to play devil's advocate. I think that is the case of Norah O'Donnell many times, but apparently everybody disagrees with me on that one, and she gets the name Whora O'donnell around here.

I still dont understand the dislike for Brian Williams. It just baffles me. And David Gregory when he was doing his job as WH correspondent, acted as one of BUsh's biggest critics. But as soon as he says something in support of Imus, or something that dems may disagree with, he is called a RW shill.

Maybe It is that I am not as left as many on DU, I dont know. I just think that NBC seems to be a friend to the democrats, or at least more than many. I mean MSNBC "conservatives" both pick on Bush about the war whenever it is the subject.

I guess Im just a little confused, because I think of MSNBC as a very good network, but it seems that many cant stand everyone except KO.

14. I was referring to the bad taste that NBC showed in giving airtime
to the mentally ill man that shot up his classmates.

David Gregory, Chris Matthews, Tim Russert, and Brian Williams are all GOP/Corporatist tools. They have proven that time and time and time again. THey may say something we like a day out of the month but they are nothing more than mouthpieces for the status quo. Shameless whores.

You will not get too many to agree with your sentiments around here or anywhere else on the left. They have screwn us too many times. It pays to be informed. Get a hold of everything you can read about current political events, then compare that to the spewings, the invited guests, and the agenda that is pushed. You will soon come over to the side of the light.

29. Just because I disagree with you, doesnt mean I'm not informed
Ive seen these guys too and I just disagree with you and everybody else. Btw, I have seen Chris Matthews and Tim Russert invite from all sides, so I dont know what you are rambling about their invited guests for.

So i guess if you could enlighten me on why they are all GOP/Corporatist tools, that would be great. And I'm willing to bet (though there isnt really a way of knowing), that a majority of those people vote for dems.

it seemed cruel and I think almost glorifies violence.

But I suppose all typical media glorifies violence, when you think about it.

8. I figured that too but there have been a few
times - later in the evening like after 9:00 , where GD and a few other forums were getting buggy. Plus, I'm seeing a lot of user names that have over 1000 and I hadn't seen them before. Snotcicles, for one, that would have been one I would have remembered. I think a lot of people are coming back and joining in - just my thoughts.

7. Having caught "Now" with David Broncoccio tonight
(I know I didn't spell that right), it became even more obvious when seeing his interview with the people who were placed into Iraq when Gen. Jay Garner was in charge. These sources who will be featured in another expose about how absolutely botched up Iraq was a la Paul Bremmer and basically how just about EVERY Godamn thing we did from that point on seeded their civil war. Watch for this feature on Truthout, cause it was good. Meanwhile, no one seems to know how many people die every day in Iraq.

Honestly, even though we have the Senate disbelieving Gonzo, and the Rupukes on the run with criminal fingering, this shit in Iraq is SO damn bad. I've got a congressman who can't think up enough ways to align himself with Bush and keep pumping out the false humility and bullshit. It's so obvious we are not being listened to in the 18th District of Pennsylvania by this asshole Tim Murphy.

9. I'm moving tomorrow.
So packing has been kind of hectic. Also, I'm being really lazy and posting on DU a lot, which I shouldn't, but I do it anyway. It's not like I'm moving far; just from Boulder to Longmont.

I think NBC made the right decision to lead with Cho's pictures and videos the day they were received. Now I never, ever, EVER want to see those pictures or hear his voice again as long as I live. It turns my stomach to think that he was able to get his last word in from beyond the grave. Still, news is news. it NEEDED to be shown, despite its stomach-turning nature.

My right eye kind of hurts.

Red Baron makes a very good pizza. I had some thin crust pepperoni pizza tonight, and it was deeeeeelicious. Best meal of the day, by far. I mean, not the best FOR me, but it sure was tasty.

Road rage is a bad thing. There was some sort of accident/chemical spill/Republican convention taking place on my way back to Boulder, and as a result traffic was backed up, and about 10 cars with flashing lights had the southbound lane blocked off. I got to take a 4 mile detour through the countryside, which was nice, but I still screamed and hit my steering wheel more than a sane person would before taking the country road.

The Discovery Channel mini-series "Planet Earth" is beyond amazing, and I am in awe of every single episode.

I think I've gone off on enough tangents for one night. Thanks for bearing with me, though you probably didn't.

Oh, and impeach Bush and Cheney.

16. Good luck on your move.
I thought the airing was untimely and insensitive to the victims families. But hey that's just me.

We had sloppy joes. And it WAS the best meal of the day.

I rage on the road too at times. It is usually when I am not setting right with my self.

I heard about "Planet Earth". I have read that it is incredible must make a note and tune in.

I would rather see them in prison than impeached.

Also, watching The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, and Countdown with Keith Olbermann helps sort through the "journalistic" muck and whatnot.

It's a shame that you can't get it through 'normal' channels.

You know, the ones that are watched by 70% of the public.

32. Well, studies HAVE shown...
...that you can fool 70% of the public 100% of the time, and 100% of the public 70% of the time, but you can't fool 100% of the public 100% of the time.

Unless that public happens to be part of Bill O'Leilly's or Limbaugh the Hutt's rabid fan bases.

I really really don't. I turned on CSPAN yesterday for replays. But I just can't watch any type of network or cable news. That is what happens when you read your news and get real professional commentary, and analysis.

I watch and listen to my CBC almost exclusively.

And here, of course.

The few times I've seen American media, I end up screaming at the TV.

CSPAN, is, of course, a national treasure.

Too bad that you're losing PBS, NPR and CNN.

34. I am going to have to fly to the east coast very very soon.
My precious uncle is dying from cancer and is very close to the end. The live in Louisiana, but he will be buried next to his parents in W. Virginia.

I haven't flown for about 2 years. I am afraid I am on a no fly list of some kind. I can't even imagine trying to fly out of the country.

My relatives are freepers. They can't help it they are just uneducated and ignorant. And racist as hell. However I won't be discussing any politics for this solemn visit.
