Thank you, Jon Stewart, for having Michael Specter talking about Denialism
About how people do not trust science and progress including, yes, vaccines.

At the end he gave a great example of a woman who would not vaccinate her child against Polio. We don't have Polio in this country, she said. Except, there is in other parts of the world, and a visitor who carries it may just be sitting next to you someplace.

Yes, he also supports genetically modified grains if the alternative is mass starvation in developing nations.

Send this book as a Christmas gift to Bill Maher, even thought this will go right over his head.

4. Eventualism
Edited on Fri Dec-04-09 01:32 AM by Swamp Rat

Eventualism isn't designed to answer all questions.

It's designed to question all answers.

The public perception of reality before Eventualism was inadequate.

Eventualism provides one with nothing less than a transcendent idea of reality.

Soon its influence will extend beyond the tangible empirical world and into the collective unconscious, where it will become even more powerful.
