 I'm just really upset about it.
He started in with "I met a girl here (Florida) who is half-black, like Obama: she just came back from the White House, and said that she was really surprised to see that the entire administration is made of up young kids, in their 20's, and they're running everything. She also said that Michelle Obama wouldn't even speak to the white people there, but she was comfortable with {this (probably mythical) girl} 'because I was half-black, and so she came over and spoke with me. But I'll tell ya: the rumors that they're prejudice against white people is so true'. "
Then he relayed an anecdote about Hillary Clinton being there, while this "half black" girl was there and witnessed Hillary Clinton shouting, demanding a glass of water ( ? Couldn't they think of something more original for her to be ordering people around about?? ) and generally throwing a "bitch from hell" tantrum .....like....some girl my old roommate meets just came from seeing the Obama's AND Hillary Clinton? I DON'T FUCKING THINK SO!
I went ballistic. I told him to keep the lying, malicious whispering campaign for someone who might believe it. I told him I was sick of all these white people spreading the same damned stories.... like they've ALL just met this half-black girl who says the same damned thing. I also told him that the Obama's former teachers/professors and co-workers....who worked with them daily for YEARS, said just the opposite of what this supposed "half black" girl said, and what has been being spread around among white people who are trying to spread fear. I told him I would believe the published accounts of their teachers and coworkers, and I asked him if he had read Obama's two books. (Of course, he has not. )
He also added that we were about to have a revolution, and that "when Obama is assassinated" this country is going to be torn apart by the black people.
My old roommate is a really nice person on so many levels. And he's well educated, and successful in business. I'm really mad at him for this, and I know I hurt his feelings by going ballistic on him. It just blows me away how many people I'm hearing spreading these horrible rumors. I hear all of this from my neighbors in North Carolina...but I live in a rural area where education isn't highly valued.
I've never seen anything like it, and I lay the blame at the feet of the corporate media. It's intentional. It's tearing this country apart.
