What ever happened to the call for congress to DEFUND war?
When Bush was President, it was one of the most commonly debated topics on DU. The push to defund these disgraceful wars.

Now that Obama's president, I've hardly seen a peep here on DU regarding the push to defund war.

Why the silence?

4. Then we need to pull out of Iraq completely and put all we've got into Afghanistan?
That includes a universal draft and war taxes.

3. How about we DEMAND that Congress stands up to it's responsibility to DECLARE WAR?
We are NOT at war. Congress has NOT declared war. If they don't DECLARE WAR, we must follow our Constitution and pull the troops out of those two Muslim Nations. Every day we occupy those countries Americans are LESS SAFE, both at home and abroad.

6. Sympathy for Smedley Darlington Butler
I am starting to sympathize with the Late General Smedley Darlington Butler. In the 1930's General Butler called for a Constitutional amendment to limit the geographical area in which the military could operate without a declaration of war. General Butler stated that he was tired of being the hired stooge of big capital. He suggested that oil freighters fly their own flag rather than the Star Spangled Banner, and hire their own mercenaries, rather than engage nations into war. Oh yes, and the Navy could not operate more than 500 miles from the continental US. That would at least limit the damage.
