Tiger Woods issues a statement
Sounds like the last word.

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=aQ_48gL5u9NE&pos=9

Kim Montes, a Florida state police spokeswoman released a statement to the press.

“The situation is my fault, and it’s obviously embarrassing to my family and me,” said Woods, the No. 1 player in the World Golf Rankings. “I’m human, and I’m not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn’t happen again. Although I understand there is curiosity, the many false, unfounded and malicious rumors that are currently circulating about my family and me are irresponsible. My wife, Elin, acted courageously when she saw I was hurt and in trouble,” Woods said in his statement. “She was the first person to help me. Any other assertion is absolutely false.” ”

Woods was treated for facial cuts after his Cadillac sport- utility vehicle struck a fire hydrant and a tree as he was leaving his house at 2:20 a.m. local time, police said. He was treated at a nearby hospital and released.

He and his wife, Elin, were scheduled to be interviewed by troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol today, but that meeting was canceled, police spokeswoman Kim Montes said in an e-mail. A lawyer, Mark Nejame, told the highway patrol that he was representing Woods.

“The troopers went to the house to see if they could speak with Mr. Woods,” Montes said. “Mr. Woods’s attorney was present and told investigators that Mr. Woods was unavailable for an interview. Mr. Woods’s attorney provided the troopers with Mr. Woods’s driver’s license information, registration and current proof of insurance as required by Florida Law. The crash investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.”

1. I just can't care about this
It's not my business.
There are more pressing things to worry about than Tiger Woods.
Seriously.
Not flaming you--it's all over the teevee.
I just keep thinking...who gives a shit?
Yet it keeps playing...

2.  I hope it's the last word
IMO he should have kept his piehole shut even though his statement actually says nothing at all.

He's provided the press jackals with just enough ammo to keep this incident in the news for a few more days.

If he wins a few tournaments, maybe a major or two, it will all die down, but I'll bet Ms Woods gets a new Caddy or three plus a big ass diamond ring or something out of this deal.

4. Nice lawyerly crafted statement,
Doesn't say anything.

Never defines what "it" is. CHECK

Denies the rumors without reference to what they are. CHECK

Gives kudos to wife without really saying exactly what she did. CHECK

Fulfills minimum requirements of law (license, registration) CHECK

Satisfies the need for a statement - CHECK

Gives police absolutely nothing of substance to implicate him - CHECK

17. Yeah.
I was following the news on MJ that day, and I PDF'd their page saying he was dead because I figured they would have to eat those words.

They were first, and they were right.

14. "Last word"...? HA!
You've heard of "non-denial denials" before, haven't you? This is a "non-admission admission," with "fuck you, scum of the press" topping. Although King Eldrick may be used to declaring his will about everything around him by royal fiat, that's precisely not the way to get reporters to drop the incident (what would have would have been to reveal some previously-unknown and non-incriminating information, such as where he was going at 2 A.M. and how he could have been seriously injured in an accident at such a slow speed the airbags didn't deploy, instead of essentially saying "it's private, so I don't have to tell you anything"); indeed, stonewalling will only convince them that there must be something to their story after all.

18. Why should he care?
He's got twenty times the money anyone needs in a lifetime, a gorgeous wife (five years younger than the supposed fling, by the way), two little boys, and a multi-million dollar mansion.

Pretty easy to not care, and just let the press chase their tails until they're dizzy.

Something else will come along which is much more interesting than this BS very soon.
