4 police officers shot dead in coffee shop

Lakewood, Washington (CNN) -- A shooter who killed four police officers Sunday in a coffee shop outside Tacoma, Washington, may have sustained a gunshot wound from one of the victims before he fled on foot, police said.
Investigators are checking with area hospitals to determine whether the gunman sought medical treatment after the shooting, Pierce County sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer said.
Four Lakewood officers were sitting in the coffee shop in neighboring Parkland before the start of their shifts, reading their computers, when the shooting happened, Troyer said. Authorities believe the officers were meeting and going over cases or doing paperwork, he said.
"This was a targeted, selected ambush," Troyer said.

He was in prison in Arkansas, and then-Governor Huckabee granted him clemency, even thought the prosecutors were vehemently against it. Thanks a lot, Mike.

Here in Washington state, the guy was charged with assaulting a police officer and second-degree rape of a child. He got out on bail (though WHY, I don't know).

Oh, and he was also facing life in prison w/o parole under Washington's three-strikes law.

No, sorry, this is no innocent person who was harassed by the cops. He brought law enforcement into his life when he committed the crimes he did.
