One hell of a show, focusing on his undersea explorations.

4. I LOVE this stuff. .
If I were starting over, I'd gird my loins, do the math & science and join his crew...(or one like it)

5. A worthwhile place to visit - the Ballard Institute at the Mystic Aquarium in CT
We spent a day there on our way home from vacation last summer. The aquarium itself was wonderful and the Institute was fascinating. Kudos to Ballard for all of his fine work. (The 60 Minutes segment was a great tribute!)

7. Who doesn't love the idea of sunken treasure (even if it is of a historical nature only).

9. We used to go to Lehigh University and interact with a live video feed
with him when I was in the gifted program in Elementary school. I remember one year was the Galapagos Islands and the other year was two ship wrecks from the war of 1812 in Lake Michigan.

10. NatGeo channel aired three stories about Ballard last week.
Pretty sure they're repeats, but I thought the timing was interesting.

11. Hell of a showman, Bob Ballard.
I had the great fun and luck to work with him one summer, his last at Woods Hole. The best fun was watching the academicians and scientists there - not the most socially gifted bunch - turn green/yellow/chartreuse every time Ballard appeared anywhere. God, they were so jealous, they couldn't even disguise it. He was amused by it, but it eventually forced him out of that place, which is nothing but an extension of the CIA and the NSA.

He does great things, and he hires great people, and he knows exactly how to publicize his efforts. All in all, a terrific showman, but a hell of a nice man, too.
