Crouching Tiger, hitting hydrant.
Hell hath no fury ...

Police went to the home of Tiger Woods, the world’s No 1 golfer, last night to question him after a car accident outside his Florida home left him bleeding and unconscious in the street and his wife holding a golf club.

Two officers of the Florida Highway Patrol visited Woods, 33, and his wife, the former model Elin Nordegren, 29, to talk about the circumstances of the incident which they described as “unusual”.

There has been speculation about the state of their marriage after the golfer’s name was linked to a nightclub hostess in a magazine article.

Unconfirmed reports said the couple, who have been married for five years, had had a row at their Thanksgiving dinner before Woods took off in his new Cadillac Escalade 4x4 at 2.25am on Friday and hit a fire hydrant and then a tree. Police ruled out alcohol as a factor.

Complete with a list of some of the web jokes

Crouching Tiger, hidden hydrant

At his best, the golfer Tiger Woods has an aim that is pinpoint accurate; at 2.25am on Friday he was all over the place.

After a Thanksgiving dinner with his wife Elin Nordegren at their home in Florida, he leapt into his car — for reasons that may or may not be connected with rumours linking him to another woman — and shot off down the drive, apparently with his wife in pursuit, clutching a golf club. Keeping your head down, feet solidly planted and eye on the ball is not easy in such tricky conditions.

-snip-

Web jokes

Perhaps Tiger should have used a driver

That’s the first time Tiger Woods has failed to drive 300 yards

Tiger Woods drives into a water hazard

After a wayward drive, Tiger Woods found water before nestling behind a tree.

Tiger Woods crashed into a fire hydrant and a tree ... he couldn’t decide between a wood and an iron.

I find it’s a nightmare driving at 2.05am: sometimes you can’t see the Woods for the trees.

Tiger Woods has been dropped by Gillette after admitting that his crash was the closest shave he had ever had

U tell yr wife everything? My wife thinks I’m at the office. I tell her I’m playing golf when I’m with another woman

Apparently, the only person who can beat Tiger Woods with a golf club is Elin.

Tiger’s wife went for him over a birdie.

What was the second worst part of Tiger’s car accident? The police found the driver in the trunk.

Tiger Woods owns several cars; it’s a shame that he got a hole in one

62. Law enforcement reported the injuries as lacerations
http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/11/27/tiger.woods/index.html

This was their initial report from treating Woods on the scene.

The TMZ witness, presumably a neighbor or friend and not medical personnel, described the injuries as scratches rendered by Woods's wife.

66. It didn't start out as an assault case
It started out as possibly a DUI (which I guess it still is, just not alcohol related) and the lacerations were initially thought to have been a result of the crash or the wife busting out the back window with a golf club and somehow pulling him out.

Yeah, there's lots of implausible things going on here.

69. Safety of children is a priority in every case
It overrides the interest of the adults.

There are many cases in the last few years where an angry spouse has inflicted harm on a child to get back at the other parent.

Hopefully it's not the case here, and one likes to think that likely it is not. But where children are involved, better to be safe than sorry.

Seriously....is this how you see women? You see an inherent danger to the children of a woman that has learned that her husband has had an affair?

In fact, please refer to the THOUSANDS of other cases where spouses fight (sometimes violently) and DO NOT EVEN THINK of killing the children.

Proactive? No...over reactive.

Edited on Sun Nov-29-09 11:01 AM by rocktivity
(Woods's agent...said Woods had met Rachel Uchitel...at a club but that there was no “romantic relationship” between the two...(A)t her New York home...Uchitel...(told) reporters...it was “totally untrue”...(The National Enquirer)...claims the two were together...while Woods was competing in the Australian Masters.

I don't think Tiger's that's stupid--an affair during "working hours?" But it would help enormously if Uchitel could explain what she was doing in Australia during the Masters--it's quite a distance from ANYWHERE for a mere fan to go see a golf tournament. And where was club where they met--Melbourne?

42. WHAT battered spouse syndrome???
There is no evidence that she hit him. None.

If there was physical abuse then of course it's a matter for the police, but that wasn't what you were questioning. You were questioning their personal business concerning adultery and the personal business of "the other woman" and the personal business of the possibility of Elin confronting Tiger about it or whatever else may have set off an argument we don't even know yet has even occurred... none of which is anyone's business but the people involved.

She could open the back fully, hop up and walk to the front to get him out.

It's also the furthest away glass, so that would help avoid glass getting on Tiger.

51. So flying glass doesn't get at the person in the car
Pretty logical really. You'd want to break the window farthest away from the person so they aren't injured by flying glass fragments. Breaking the back window is probably the best solution as he wouldn't likely be injured by flying glass and she could climb through and unlock the door to drag him out.

One on each side of the car. WHY smash TWO to 'rescue someone'. You don't. You smash two when you run out of the house after your spouse who you are a little pissed at and he jumps in the SUV to escape.

He has refused to let cops see him so they can assess his facial/head injuries. All they want to do is see if the injuries are consistant with the condition of the vehicle. He refuses to show his injuries. WHY?

Not the actual back hatch window, like has been implied in the media. Which kind of makes more sense no matter why she broke the window out.

55. that would make more sense- as you could unlock the driver's door.

or can you...? i'm not familiar with the door locks on that vehicle.

(however- my money is still on a fit of jealous rage, not an effort to assist)

61. I think it depends on if they had the child safety locks engaged or not
If not then you can unlock the back door back and get in to hit the main unlock button in the front.

Who knows, it could be she broke the window in a fit of rage while he was driving off causing him to swerve, run over the hydrant and hit the tree, and then used the already broken window to get in and get him out of the vehicle. The 911 call did say he was out of the vehicle laying on the ground and unconscious, so it appears someone (his wife?) got him out before he came to.

68. To avoid causing injury to the driver.
I saw the pictures on TMZ. The back passenger window was broken. If Tiger was unconscious and the doors were locked, it makes sense that she would break the back window. It doesn't make sense to me that she would break it in an assault attempt.

72. I've got
Tiger tries to flee club wielding wife by backing down driveway but strikes hydrant. Then has to put it in drive and head into the "war zone," at which time he's peppered with a barrage of iron. His alternate route includes protecting himself, avoiding wife, and maneuvering around neighbor's tree.

73. there still has to be a reason he was driving like that at that hour...
and when/where did she get his golf club from, in order to bust out the window to get to him?

my money is on 'marital strife' and not 'rescue attempt'.

but- just as with the subject of how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie-pop...the world may never know.

58. Does this mean he's suffering from abused spouse syndrome by not wanting to tell the police?
Or is it "chivalrous" of him to stand in the way of charges being filed on his wife for spousal abuse since it's believed their argument was over his alleged affair?

Really, what would be people's view of this situation if their genders were reversed?

64. I'm guessing it was prescription drugs, since it wasn't alcohol.
Hard to test for Rx drugs, if you don't know what to test for.

Didn't he have some health problem or injury recently? He got hooked on painkillers, maybe?

This is all too common.

79. He is still suffering from the injury, I think it's a knee injury
Probably took at least a full dose in order to get a full night's sleep--and hadn't planned on having to flee for his life in the middle of the night. But when an angry woman who's already mangled your face is chasing you with a golf club it's time to hightail it out anyway you can.

80. I applaud him for keeping silent and not allowing the msm to turn him into the next Gosselin
It's a private matter and none of our business.

82. Unfortunately he's opening himself to an obstruction of justice charge
Keeping silent to the media is one thing--but keeping silent to law enforcement that repeatedly asks for an explanatio is not only imprudent, it's illegal.
