1. Here's the link to his website
http://www.phoenixcommotion.com/

I discovered him a couple years ago and applaud what he does. Wish more communities would follow his lead.

5. That's a wonderful site! Thanks.
He's got quite a few ideas I haven't seen before.

My siblings and I all have homes highly improved by "found" stuff. We learned it from my mom & dad.

2. He has an artist's eye..

My house could have been one of his creations. It was built by a taxidermist from many reused and reclaimed materials. I wish more people would embrace alternative, affordable housing rather than the cookie cutter McMansions and boring contemporary condos, though I realize this isn't an option everywhere.

3. Recommend. Huntsville has some very progressive city council members.
Edited on Sun Nov-29-09 12:47 AM by TexasObserver
There's a really great city councilwoman named Melissa Mehaffey there I'd like to see pursue higher office in the area. She's top notch and a good progressive.

And there's a younger city councilwoman by the name of Dalene Zender who looks promising.

Mayor Turner seems to be a good guy.

Huntsville is a really interesting city. It has two big sources of jobs: the university and the prison system. About 18,000 students at the university. I think there are at least 10,000 prisoners and/or their family members living in the area. I'm not real good on that number, however, and wouldn't want it quoted.

I don't live there, but I'm familiar with the area. An old friend is on the faculty, and invites me to appear there occasionally at political functions. I know through her that there's a very active progressive wing of the party there.

10. I have been in several of his houses
when he started doing this about 5 years ago. I lived in Huntsville for 10 yrs - it is a very conservative place, least when I was there it was. The houses are really neat on the inside, small bt neat.

Think about how comfy that would be on your feet - like a floor of Birkenstocks!
