Oregon State wins as President Obama, first lady attend game in D.C.

WASHINGTON -- On Friday, the Oregon State basketball team went to President Obama's house.

Today, he returned the favor, travelling four blocks from the White House (8 minute total commute) to watch the struggling Beavers (2-3) beat George Washington (4-1) 64-57. Obama entered the arena at 1:51 pm EST to chants of ``Obama.'' He was accompanied by Michelle Obama, who happens to be Beavers coach Craig Robinson's sister.

Robinson's two children, who stayed at the White House during the team's visit, also arrived with the president. Also in the group were the first couple's two children, Malia and Sasha, and President Obama's mother-in-law, Marian Robinson.

Whether Obama’s presence made a difference or not, the Beavers came storming out of the gate, forcing seven turnovers in the first 6 minutes and bursting to a 16-3 lead. The first family was seated directly behind Oregon State's bench, leaning forward and watching the game closely.
