1. Wow - the K and R

I just saw the film 2012 last night, and some of the footage in this amazing clip is directly reminiscent of the scenes in that Hollywood blockbuster.

4. This hadn't registered on Big Oil's radar screen yet
They must not have seen much of a threat to their way of doing business, as they didn't start bankrolling climate-change denial pseudoscience for several more years.

10. ...also - there are these things called "solar cells" which convert sunlight into electricity!
I remember seeing this (or was it on Hemo?) and asked myself why, if they had this 50 years ago, hasn't been more done with that technology?

of Lionel Barrymore (Father Time) and Marvin Miller (Mr. Sun, as well as the role of Michael Anthony on "The Millionaire") and Sterling Holloway (Chloro Phyll).

11. They probably told that scientist he was a crackpot back then.
I'm glad he still spoke his mind. I just wish someone had listened. I wish more people would listen now.

"It's A Wonderful Life"?

Kicked and recommended.

16. I recall reading a very long time ago
that around the end of WWII we came out of an unusually mild and temperate (in terms of not a whole lot of weather variation) at least in this country. And that what we could look forward to was higher highs, lower lows, more storms, more drought conditions, more abnormal rain conditions, and so on. We would be facing a more uncertain weather future, in short.

I probably read this by the mid 1960's, have no idea where, just something in some sort of mainstream media, but I've always remembered it and have often told others of this. So the knowledge of climate change, if not actual global warming, has been out there for about a half century.

Remember the very cold back to back winters in the mid-70's when everyone was panicking over an imminent ice age? That was simply another aspect of the uncertain weather thing.

18. I knew that info before it became popular. It has been theorized for decades,
but turned into marketing sensationalistic drivel...

Guess who truly deserves the award?

19. That had everything
The CO2 holding the heat in, the ice caps and glaciers melting, the dramatic rise in sea levels - and man causing it.

20. Al Gore learned of Global Warming back in 1967 when he was at Harvard
Now if they were teaching it at Harvard, it would hardly be a crackpot theory.

Interesting guy, this Roger Revelle, who was Gore's professor in the climate studies course:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Revelle

He was doing research on the "greenhouse effect" back in 1957.

26. I was reading parts of a banned (ok, bought up book) from the 1960's(?)
Alternative 3. Do a search for it. It's an amazing book about climate scientists who held a conference in Huntsville, Alabama, (I think) where they already knew that climate change was happening and their data said the earth would be uninhabitable by the year 2050. That would have been right around when the Unchained Goddess was filmed. 1950-ish
