Tiger Woods: Injuries Caused by Wife, Not SUV TMZ
Tiger has yet to be formally interviewed by the Florida Highway Patrol -- that should happen this afternoon. But we're told Tiger had a conversation Friday -- with a non-law enforcement type -- detailing what went down before his Escalade hit a fire hydrant.

We're told he said his wife had confronted him about reports that he was seeing another woman. The argument got heated and, according to our source, she scratched his face up. We're told it was then Woods beat a hasty retreat for his SUV -- but according to our source, Woods says his wife followed behind with a golf club. As Tiger drove away, she struck the vehicle several times with the club.

We're told Woods became "distracted," thought the vehicle was stopped, and looked to see what had happened. At that point the SUV hit the fire hydrant and then hit a tree.

We're also told Woods had said during the conversation Friday he had been taking prescription pain medication for an injury, which could explain why he seemed somewhat out of it at the scene.

speculating on what went on here.

5. prescription pain medication?
Sounds like limpballitis. He's described as being incoherent and in and out of consciousness. Drug use, not the accident, seems to have been the cause of this. Probably some Ambien mixed in also. Should be interesting as Tiger's dirty little secrets come out. His wife is not happy and knows them all.

59. drug use and being assaulted by your wife are not mutually exclusive
:)

i once had a case where a woman SHOT AT HER HUSBAND's CAR as he drove off, because she said he was drunk and she wanted to stop him from driving away. we only charged her with reckless endangerment (a misdemeanor), cause that's all that fit. her husband declined to prosecute (not surprising in a DV case). now if she had hit HIM with a bullet, she'd be looking at manslaughter.

he hit it in the left rear part of the car.

note that one is generally justified in grabbing the keys from your drunk spouse ot keep them from driving away. but shooting at their car is not justified. not that this needs to be said, but you never know.

96. Uhhh...a year ago. OK to get addicted to painkillers after an injury?
He was lying on the ground, zonked out and unable to speak (not from the accident but probably Ambien and Vicodin). Woods has pent up rage that is obvious everytime he makes a mistake. I knew it would eventually eat him up and seems to be happening now. His actions over the past 6 months have raised questions in the golfing world.

I don't know why you're posting here but I'm happy to respond.

It's a job that's mostly recession proof, unless you happen to land someone who loses all to a Madoff scam or something. But not age-proof if you were uninformed enough to sign a locked-up pre-nup and didn't produce off-spring.

"Hell yeah we're starting a war in Iran. And I'm looking forward to it"

"Endless war in the middle east has ALWAYS been part of the Democratic platform" (yeah, when its written by the DLC)

So much sickening warmongering bullshit being spewed over there it might as well be Hannity and Billo the clown.

Compared to that, the soap opera of a guy who gets paid too much to chase little white balls around on a big piece of grass, is a nice change of pace.

43. Just imagine if it were the reverse. A woman driving the car with facial lacerations and semi
conscious, and a man with the club who broke the window. Nobody would dare to make jokes then. But there will be jokes on the late nite and other shows. Possible abuse by a female is funny.

I see judges on court TV laugh about it. But put a man up there with one hint of physical violence and the mood is as somber as a funeral.

22. who has a fire hydrant and a neighbor's tree in their driveway?
Obviously it happened on the road. Police couldn't have talked to him at the scene since he was injured and either unconscious or semi-conscious. If there's injury that requires immediate attention the cops don't ask questions of the injured party then and shouldn't. Plenty of time to question him about what happened once his injuries are taken care of.

23. The Highway Patrol?
There was already a police report completed by the local police at the scene; they concluded alcohol wasn't a factor. Even if it was on the street, it's still not a matter for the Highway Patrol. When have you ever known anyone who was in a minor accident, had the police show up and write a report, and then have the State Police do a "formal interview" the next day? The answer? Never.

26. WTF is "highway patrol"?
You're assuming that "highway patrol" means the state police when it could mean whatever division has jurisdiction of where it happened. Lots of people call traffic police "highway patrol". And yes, especially if there may be criminal charges involved, there would be a formal interview at the time that the injured party is physically able. His explanation for what happened is important and should be part of the report. That's exactly what happened both times I got rear ended even though neither time was I unconscious or even semi-unconscious. The amount of damage to the vehicles and my complaint of neck pain warranted going immediately from the scene to the ER. I did a formal interview both times with the police the next day when I was home and in relative comfort... as it should be.

You're making a big deal out of what is very ordinary procedure.

40. Sounds like a philandering husband was attacked by his understandably pissed wife.
He tries to flee. She pursues him with a club and takes a couple of good whacks at the vehicle. Distracted, he gets out, leaving the auto in gear. It hits something.

Cover story to protect the rep.

Yeah, it's speculation at this point, but let's get real. None of the official story makes any sense at all. It's the holiday weekend. Families are pressed together, and there's nowhere to hide, no way for him to slip off and see the mistress (if there is one), and Mama confronts him about the rumors.

It doesn't help, I'm sure, that the mistress looks just like the wife.

He's the highest paid ENTERTAINER in the world. He gets huge endorsement. Getting scrutinized as such is part of the job.

41. Ugly, ugly, ugly
The pot shots taken in this thread are shameful, particularly since it appears most didn't even click the link in the OP to read the entire story. The second picture is apparently of the alleged mistress. Tiger's wife didn't have lip implants because it's not fucking HER in the second photo. Secondly, the alleged mistress is completely denying the story about their having an affair.

So please fellow DU'ers, put away the fucking putter and implant jokes. The TMZ story makes the most sense when you piece the evidence together, and if it holds up to be true, taking pot shots at a family dealing with domestic violence issues is what republicans do.

50. Facts
Edited on Sat Nov-28-09 12:21 PM by WhaTHellsgoingonhere
What we were told Friday as details began to emerge:

Tiger Woods was taken to the hospital after a minor accident, but is OK and has been released

Tiger's accident occurred at 2:30am

Tiger's accident occurred while he was backing out of his driveway

Tiger backed into a fire hydrant, then struck a tree in his neighbor's yard

The airbags did not deploy (i.e., he didn't hit the tree very hard)

44. LOL. WOW, is that ever a different story from what People is reporting....
Just read this a little while ago.... http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20323202,00.html?xid=rss-topheadlines&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+people%2Fheadlines+%28PEOPLE.com%3A+Top+Headlines%29&utm_content=My+Yahoo

According to People, his wife is the one who freed him from the car, using golf clubs to break out the back window.

The TMZ story sounds a lot more probable to me......

assault with a deadly weapon. Golf clubs can be classified as deadly weapons -

I wonder if she will be as villainized ( as much as Chris Brown was) as a man-beater, and whether Tiger gets as much sympathy from society as Rhianna did(and still milking it for CD sales), and if not then there is a huge double standard going on...

yeah, tiger, stay classy...

yeah, i'm disgusted, they were both in the wrong here, but he could have called for help, he's a big rich guy w. a cell phone, he did not have to drive impaired to flee the wife

a woman in the same circumstance would still be charged w. impaired driving...

you are not allowed to drive impaired, you need to call for help, he actually would have been better off running than getting into a car stoned, hitting a fire hydrant AND a tree, and his wife is still beating the fuck out of the car w. a golf club

i've been on the victim end of domestic violence and it ain't pretty, and the refusal of police in those days didn't make it any prettier, but i knew that getting my own ass put in jail would not help matters -- i did not drive drunk/stoned to prove a point by killing myself or someone else abt how bad i wanted to get away, i tried to find a smart way to get away -- maybe that's cold, but hurting myself or hurting someone else wasn't going to help me either

tiger's getting a walk on the DUI because he's tiger, which would be OK if he would use his influence to get everybody in like circumstance a walk, but he won't -- tiger is all abt tiger

these days we have cell phones and the combo of cell phone plus rich neighborhood -- trust me, the cops would be all over that shit -- all he had to do was make the call and stop putting up/covering up for his abuser

he was covering up because he was ashamed, and it's a tempting pattern, but at the end of the day we the little people are not allowed to drive impaired under any circumstance

i have to confess to actually feeling a lot of pity for tiger, no one deserves to be beaten w. a fucking golf club and an athlete's body is his work tool, the threat of injury to his body is esp. cruel because it threatens his sport and his livelihood

and yah FWIW "if" the report from TMZ is true...the trouble is...it fits the facts, the bullshit we were fed previously didn't fit any facts

when authority lies the people will speculate, that's why god gave us a brain and the abiility to draw conclusions

I do not understand why professional athletes bother getting married. They have an endless line of women looking to jump their bones. This only leads to trouble if they are married. I think a guy like Derek Jeter is doing the smart thing. Live the single life as long as you can.

Edited on Sat Nov-28-09 07:51 PM by pitohui
you have to have a wife who has the emotional maturity to realize that if a man is rich, successful, high achieving, high testosterone (which almost all successful male athletes will be) and he has constant temptation in his face, physical fidelity is not going to happen

some men want to have a family and a center to go home to, and yet still be able to go out and have their little adventures -- they love their wives, they love their families, but they love getting something strange too -- ok, i guess you can tell that someone in my life (my dad) was like this

we only get one life, but there are many lives that look like they would be great to live -- the life of the playboy but also the life of the man with a home and family -- and if you're rich enough, you think, fuck it, i can have both, can't it?

i don't think the impulse is entirely evil and hurtful, it comes from a desire to have more life, to have more experience, the dream of living forever and experiencing everything

does that make sense? fuck, i'm not even a male and i can understand it altho i may describe it badly

there is no way he can say the facial cuts came from the windshield. Bottom line, the facial marks need to be looked to see if they were done by fingernails. The ER should have in their notes what the lacerations looked like even if he NOW is refusing to go face to face with the cops (for two days in a row now)

if this happened on trailer park row both tiger and wifey would be in jail right now -- her for the assault, him for backing out of his own fucking driveway whilst impaired

and if you think i'm joking, i'm not, there are multiple police reports just in my suburb of people arrested for DUI in their own fucking driveway

one of my friends, whilst homeless, was arrested for DUI for SLEEPING in his fucking car

i don't blame them for taking advantage of what they can to protect themselves but IF she beat him and IF he was wasted on pain meds at the time, they both need to get some help at least

i don't need my pound of flesh and i don't need to see them jailed but nor do i necessarily need to see my neighbors jailed for similar

anyone in that circumstance, the first time they come into contact with law enforcement, i believe they should be given a chance to change and get help...but in reality, at least for the DUI (driving on the pain meds) there is no longer any mercy in my state, it's supposed to be an automatic two days in jail...for anyone...but really for anyone who isn't rich...

118. Second verse
A pretty woman makes her husband look small
And very often causes his downfall.
As soon as he marries her
Then she starts to do
The things that will break his heart.
But if you make an ugly woman your wife,
You'll be happy for the rest of your life,
An ugly woman cooks her meals on time,
She'll always give you peace of mind.

119. Not always from what I've seen
I've met some horrible wives who were ugly (verbally abusive, self centered, indifferent) and I've met some really nice attractive wives.

I don't think I've ever met a wife who was (in my view) both great in personality and extremely attractive though. They might be out there, but I don't know enough. I've met attractive women who were great wives, but not knockouts.

Either way, if you (Tiger Woods) are superficial enough to pick a woman (mainly/solely) due to her looks and she picks you (mainly/solely) due to your fame and fortune then you both deserve what you get. A marriage that is probably full of self absorption, affairs and jealousy.

From all indications, I'd guess these folks are hiding out to get their complicated stories straight, because on what planet would you want to NOT talk to police to clear things up if nothing was going on?

Seems to me that if a possible domestic abuse case exists, the police shouldn't be able to be repeatedly 'turned away' while tell-tale injuries heal. That would make the police look like they are in on this.
