Wrong Number Miracle
Wrong Number Miracle (NBC San Diego)

Excerpt:
"I asked her what she would like, what her kids like, and then I felt really bad because she said she only wanted eggs and milk," Saenz said. "I felt really bad because I know when somebody only asks you for eggs and milk, they are in a really bad situation."

Trust me, just read it. :)

1. Thank you, my dear Robb...
I read it, and now I'm all misty-eyed...

It is truly a wrong-number miracle. How many people would have responded the way that lady did? Most folks would have said go away, wrong number...don't bother me, or some such.

Thank you for posting this today.

2. That is pretty awesome ..
Its amazing how this turned out. People aren't often that sympathetic under these grueling times but some how during this time of the year, people start thinking about the holidays and what they mean to them. Glad she got more then milk and eggs.. and that one person took the step forward to help.

9. There are indeed selfless folks out there we just don't hear
enough about them.

The military pay for enlisted folks is still low for a family to survive. We shouldn't have any American in this situation and we sure as heck shouldn't have soldiers and their families in this situation.

that its members cannot afford to even put food on the table while they go off to fight these trillion dollar wars?

22. Saenz's 14 yr old son will not forget this.
It will impact the values he carries into his adult life. I know because I have been there....it was Christmas in the late 1950's.....my father did something similar.....it is why I am and always have been tolerant/empathic and socially liberal.

25. Excellent point

I remember riding with my father downtown when we passed a homeless person passed out on the sidewalk.

We stopped and and Dad stopped the bleeding from his head and waited for the ambulance to come, and sowing the seeds that would lead to my rebellion against his deeply conservative political views.

1) What a great person
2) What about next month and the month after…and all the other desperate people in this country?
3) You're still a dingbat.

26. Don't want to be a downer after that great story but on another page of the site
it has a non-scientific survey of people's moods.

San Diego locals are:

68% SAD

14% FURIOUS

8% LAUGHING

5% BORED

5% THRILLED

0% INTRIGUED

I was really surprised to read 68% sad! This is why I do not like the holidays. You are told when you are supposed to have a good day. In my life good days happen out of the blue, not on some calender schedule.

28. Makes me very sad for our lost potential as a nation
when giving to another because it is the right thing to do is regarded as a "miracle," it makes me sad to think we've gone this low...and she is a military wife, too...

And that there are good people in the world.
And just why do military families have to go without food and go on food stamps etc? All while their parental unit/partner is fighting for America and maybe even dying for wars based on lies? This really sucks.
