Are hit and run drivers on the increase?
Or just the reporting of hit ad run accidents?

Friend of mine had his truck hit in the back by a hit and run, in my friend's driveway.

2. Some states have loopholes in the law that help hit-and-run drivers.
In Arizona, for example, you have to not only get the vehicle and plate number, you also have to provide a physical description of the driver.

I've known a few people in Arizona who were smacked by hit-and-run drivers, particularly at night, whom the police couldn't help because the victims couldn't see the driver well enough to give any kind of physical description.

3. It sure seems like it -- and especially those "hits" that involve a person. It's appalling. nt

5. You mean hitting a pedestrian, then taking off, right?
There are even videos of that.

6. Yes -- sorry, should have said that. I can't believe how often I hear of it happening
recently.

7. Two possible explanations...
1) Increased enforcement and stiffer penalties for DUI offenses...

2) Illegal aliens driving without a license and/or insurance.

8. Very few illegals.
In fact, whenever I see on the news a hit-and-run who's been caught, it's some white guy or girl.
